GUILTY PA - Ellen Robb, 49, beaten to death, Montgomery County, 22 Dec 2006

  • #181
Court TV has a feature called "13th JUROR" which solicits viewer opinion on different topics. One gets reported by Catherine Crier every day.

Yesterday they asked:
Were Professor Robb's actions suspicious?
YES 93%
NO 7%

Today they are asking:

Do you think the Univ. of Penn. professor is linked to his wife's murder?

right now the numbers are:
YES 70.56%
NO 29.44%

I am fascinated by the disparity. Maybe the posters here haven't been by to weigh in yet!

NOTE TO LOCAL POSTERS like Hedidit and luthersmama and opme and ANeighbor---- We have speculated that Robb may have called the 10-digit local police station rather than 911 thinking that he could avoid being recorded.
I called my local precinct and discovered (after many, many rings!) that yes, in Manhattan precinct calls get recorded also. Not surprising. But it's NYC!

Could one of you, please do a bit of sleuthing --- call your local station and ask? Please report the answer and also--- did the phone ring and ring??

See post # 54 Hedidit already call the local number

Ditto...I called our local police and it rang and rang and rang and rang and rang...and then I was put on hold!

Thanks Gracelin for pointing out this post to me. I forgot that Hedidit did phone. But I am wondering about recording--- are local police calls recorded, was that established?

Oh, I just thought of something--- even if they are, he may have thought they weren't. I thought that was possible, even likely. :waitasec:

I made an effort to see if this had been already posted but it seems not. He was out walking Copper who looks like a ShihTzu and stopped to talk to the pretty reporter.

Gleaned from this report is something new to me--- that Robb told LE when he left the house his wife was wrapping gifts.

Turns out she had only wrapped two!

And that's in addition to telling them her head was cracked. He is asked about Olivia and says she is "strong."

I had trouble even finding a number other than 911 for that department. It isn't in the Verizon yellow pages or in a directory of all of the Montgomery County Townships. I had to go to the Township website. It clearly says to dial 911 for emergencies and that the other number is only for non-emergency calls.

I can't imagine dialing anything other than 911. It doesn't fit with his story either. First he had trouble finding a phone, even though he was in two different rooms containing phones. Finally he got his cell from the car. So where did he get the 10-digit number? When and where did he look it up?

Now that the report is out, there are way too many holes in his story. "Gee, let me go to the bathroom before I call the police" ?????

Hi Englishleigh, Thanks Sweetie. It was a life experience for our whole family.

Hi Lisa, I think you're right now that I think about it, how odd it was for him to touch her face as it wasn't there anymore. I wonder if he really did that. Like someone said here, there is often bits of truth that come out from a murderer. If he did this, maybe it was just sinking in that it was over and this is exactly what he wanted to do to her. I think he was very sloppy about how he went about the whole murder. And I was surprised when ANeighbor shook his hand hegot emotional. He could be in a different mental state now, and I agree he will do anything to protect himself. I would worry about suicide, and bet those LE officers are keeping close tabs on what he does, especially since he is not teaching at the U anymore.

It was pointed out to me (I missed it!) that in that longer nbc interview linked upthread that when his alibi arises, about his being at the fruit store (yeah for FORTY MINUTES !) he offers to show the report the "shopping bag."

AS IF THAT PROVES ANYTHING!!! :loser:

He loves himself too much to do that. Reporters are outside his house round the clock!

In the video it appears Robb has an unusual gait. His right foot turns outward. I am wondering if the bloody footprints were clear enough to tell if both feet pointed forward or if one foot turned out.

Interesting that he is taking the dog for a nice long walk. So considerate ……….like someone who cares enough to put the dog in the bedroom……..

I actually called the local police office not long ago to report lose horses on a very busy roadway.. the call was picked up after a couple of rings. Not a long delay but definately not the most immediate response either. Our local station records all calls not just those 911 calls. I suspect your correct that it was his way of avoiding the recording of the call. Also of note it is not easy to find the local station numbers.. when I went to call the station i deliberatly did not want to call 911 but had a hard time finding the correct number in the phone book to call so he must have either had it posted on a fridge magnet, at hand some how or taken some more time to look it up.

Intriguing observations, Jade. But I don't think shutting the dog away was for the dog's benefit. I think this was more along the Scott Peterson M.O.

Now, Pamela Smart's telling her little goons not to harm the dog...That's different.

Yeah, my local precinct takes some looking up, too. It's a really good question: you come home, find your family member crushed like hamburger on your kitchen floor and among the things you do is...look up that number rather than call 911?? Was this number at hand? If so, why? Was it on redial or maybe programmed in? But WHY? Why wouldn't you program in 911???

I think he thought he was being clever.

Firstly who spends 40 minutes buying fruit while on their way to the office? And secondly, if he was there for 40 minutes doing such a thorough inspection of the fruit he was buying , the clerk would have no trouble saying he was there that day. If i were the clerk I know I would notice a freak who was buying a couple of pieces of fruit and spent 40 mins doing it. Also, the soda purchase.. why would he travel that far away from his office to buy a sode unless trying to set up an alibi when there are machines in the hallway by his office... ?

I think he 'thinks' he's being clever when in reality his statement really blows his whole alibi. I also think he's probably in denial now and doesn't even believe he murdered her. He's out there.......

I'm sure if anyone is venturing to Chinatown this weekend, you may run into Mr. Robb. I heard he frequents there often. :snooty: I also heard that he hasn't missed a meal.........no loss of appetite for Mr. Raffi.....

Just goes to show that even though you have a PhD after your name, doesn't make you smart. If you no longer like your spouse, GET A DIVORCE!

Geeze, shades of OJ and Scott Peterson.

I'm sure this poor woman didn't have an enemy in the world that would want to harm her except her husband.

Strangers (burglars) don't routinely kill their victims. They usually rob when no one is home. Why risk a murder rap when, if caught, you would just be charged with burglary of a few trinkets?

A burglar who does kill, usually uses a gun. Bludgeoning someone is far too personal a crime. The person that killed Ellen hated her. This was no robber.

Maybe he was just too cheap to spend the dollar it cost to dial 911!

Shades of OJ he is walking like a helpless old man, I don't think he had the same gait before he killed his wife..
