Walked away from her Slate Street home in the Hays neighborhood of Pittsburgh and was never seen again. Family members feel she may have set out for their cabin in Tionesta, Forest County.

Vehicle comments: On July 6, 1980, the Pittsburgh Press reported that two cab drivers had come forward with possible information. One stated that he had picked up a fare in downtown Pittsburgh and taken her to the Greater Pittsburgh Airport. The other reported taking a woman from downtown to Bellvue. Both drivers identified their fare as Elsie after seeing her photo in the newspaper.

Details of Disappearance
Brack was last seen at her home on Slate Street in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on June 2, 1980. She walked away and has never been heard from again. Shortly before her disappearance, Brack told a friend she was "depressed." Her family thought she might have been en route to her cabin in Tionesta, Pennsylvania, but she apparently never arrived there.

Two cab drivers reported giving rides to Brack on consecutive days after her disappearance. One said he picked her up in downtown Pittsburgh and took her to the airport. Another said he'd taken from downtown Pittsburgh to Bellevue, Pennsylvania.

Did she live alone? If the cab drivers are accurate, maybe she was confused/disoriented, not sure what to do under the influence of depression. jmo

Weather in Pittsburgh on that day averaged 60-ish degrees Farenheit; I was thinking a 3/4 length coat was somewhat heavy for June but perhaps not.

Pittsburgh -> Bellevue is approx 18 miles, both locations are on what appear to be significant rivers - The Ohio and The Monongahela.

I was thinking it would depend on the fabric, thickness, etc.

Interesting...18 miles isn't far- much closer than Tionesta, actually. Maybe the trip to Tionesta was too overwhelming for whatever reason, so she sought something closer...jmo
