SadieMae,the Amish are not crime-free,I have read 2 separate truecrime books of Amish husbands who murdered their wives---also,some years ago, many Amish communities were accused of covering up child abuse,brother-sister rape----at any rate, this is a tragedy today---such an awful crime in such a beautiful area

They are talking on CNN with the owner of the buggy company there. Apparently the town has 30,000 residents and NO POLICE force because they aren't necessary because there is not crime. Imagine That!

It is also reported on CNN the shooter was a business owner in town there from witness accounts.

I think I did see something on a court TV show about child marriages.

Thanks SadieMae, That makes a lot of sense. There must be student/s who are unaccounted for and someone saw them running away. How tragic, little kids should never be subjected to anything like this.

Quite a sight to see those firemen searching like that. Seeing the little kids lined up and seated on a curb. My heart goes out to them. These kids don't even wtch TV - they live in another world. Pat Brown says they are probably petrified. Helicopters flying overhead, all the people around like the media.

I wonder what the line of search is for. Was something disposed of?
I am hearing the shooter is dead........have you?
It is off the beaten track that you do see the life of this group of Amish.
It takes you back into history books ,and the early times. Watching the kids be happy with the old pedal push carts and "very old" bikes....but, not asking for more. All of the women out in the fields, or hanging clothes ,with their little ones beside them. If you ask "where they are?" ......no one will tell you. It is a favor they do for each other. But, going out off the tourist trail......will show you everything of their way of living. The Amish food Restaurants are well known there.

I've read that they are searching for injured kids who may have fled. Also that the shooter was dead AND it's unclear if the shooter is among the dead.

Going to Childrens Hospital in Philly and Hershey Hospital means very bad injuries. They are actually leaving a Trauma Center Hospital. The 3 girls are critical, and going to the best hospitals Pa can provide.....
Pray ..............

The info coming out now is confusing. Roy the gunman, went into the school, orderd all the girls to go outside and took them hostage, had a gun, police screamed Roy put the gun down repeatedly, he started firing, shot himself, don't know if he is really dead, The teacher fled to a nearby farm {can you imagine! } and those are the basics right now.

It seems this is in the town of Paradise. Towns are close to each other and blend together. Neighboring towns are Bird-in-Hand and Intercourse (no joke)
They are saying on MSNBC that the schooling only goes to 8th grade. It is being reported an angry man showed up there. Confirmed by WGAL channel.
Lancaster has gotten 3 patients age 6 to 16.......Hershey medical Center may have someone airlifted there.

Living in Florida now, but was born and raised in Lancaster, PA. What a shock!

I love Lancaster......so much to do there. Just wonderful Shows and unique shops spread here and there.
Crime has now entered the area. Not long ago, someone who lived on a main road in Lancaster, killed his family. So they do need police there, like all towns need. Looks like this man killed himself. He will then never serve time for this horror he bestowed.

This must be much more shocking to the Amish community than it is to us. They probably have no knowledge of all the other incidences of school massacre since they don't watch media.

They are setting up for the news conference right now so it will be soon. So tragic with 6 dead which might be 5 students if they count the shooter, and 3 in extremely critical condition. Oh, the trauma for these families. It is hard to even fathom how this has transpired in this rural community. Are they taking the families to Hersheys - where is that, in Philly?

Oh, correction. Roy made all the boys leave and go outside, not the girls. He wanted the little gtirls. The teacher and some visitors ran out into a field to a farm they say to get help.

A witness says the man lined all the girls up against the wall and shot them all. He was a 70 year old man who had an argument with some of the mothers earlier in the morning. This is from an ambulance driver who was on the scene. Unconfirmed as of yet, but the man on the phone says it is probably very accurate. 5 helicopters and 12 ambulances called to scene. The man on the phone to CNN works for the ambulance company and his daughters hubby is one of the ambulance drivers. Any other info he knows he could not say that would go over the air waves!

OMG! On CNN from a report from a man whos son-in-law is an ambulance driver: The gunman told the boys to leave, lined the girls up and shot them.

It is being reported on CNN that the boys were asked to leave the school.( by the shooter)
The teacher was doing work at the board.
The boys ran for help to a nearby farm......as no phones in the homes.
That may be why they are scouting the fields.......as the boys had to run.

Can you imagine the fear in the hearts of these little girls, being lined up against the wal and shot execution style. All the little boys ran out into the fiels. So it must be 5 little girls dead, 3 criticly wounded and flown to Hershey's.

Oops, news conf is on!

Listening to the news report now. It's worse than I could imagine!! The officer giving the press conference is having a hard time holding it together talking about the girls being lined up in front of the blackboard. Their feet were tied with flex cuffs, and shot in the head. Shooter name is Charles Carl Robert IV, 32. A tanker truck driver for milk company.

The shooter left his wife, and each of children suicide notes explaining his actions and he would not be coming home. He did talk to his wife on the phone and said it was out of revenge for something that happened 20 years ago.

WTF!!!!!!!
