Posting a clip of Ruth’s birth announcement, found by @bev1228

Eta: I have found the correct Richard W. Brenneman, Ruth’s father, who died in 1987. However, he remarried after Ruth died, and while I have found a subsequent wife, I cannot find the name of Ruth’s mother, and I don’t know whether she died or the couple divorced. If there is interest, I can add clips to include Richard’s obituary (it doesn’t mention Ruth, but interestingly, his mother’s name is Ruth; another child-a son is mentioned); and I have a few other addresses for him.

I was originally interested in looking at addresses of the family in order to determine what school she had attended, who lived nearby, etc., but without locating her mom and knowing who she was living with, I ran into a dead end.

Reading some blogs & message boards, I believe Ruthie lived near & disappeared from east York near Haines Acres. York Suburban school district. The siding on the house in her photo aligns w/ a vague memory I have of the lone house across Mt Rose Ave from Haines Acres.

From that time & place I can recall a motorcycle (dirt bike) being reported stolen. The stolen bike’s owner would be convicted 37 years later of murdering his wife.

Again, from a message board, I read an account of a late night cruise, in 2005, near where her remains were found being interrupted by a female matching her possible looks wearing ‘70s style motorcycle attire screaming. The cruisers stopped to see if she needed help, but while appearing to be screaming, she made no sound. The cruisers left finding this to be creepy.

I’m of the opinion that her death isn’t connected to the murderer for several reasons. I believe that perhaps she knew a neighbor who she informed that she knew they had stolen the dirt bike & the thief silenced her.

Having watched too many cop shows, I’m guessing she was stripped to conceal her identity but was covered w/ the tarp because the murderer knew her & wanted to preserve some small amount of her dignity. A random killer would just dump the body. That size tarp would also conveniently cover the gas tank & engine configuration of a stolen bike parked in a garage whose door had been left open.

I’ve spoken w/ an investigator, relayed my recollections which include a bit more than I’ve written here. He asked me several questions that make me believe I’ve got the right person in the right place at the right time. If you are or knew someone from York Suburban, York Catholic, or York Country Day & graduated in ‘77, give or take a year, & knew her or knew of her, I’d advise contacting the Pa State Police.
