Police searching for endangered missing man with cerebral palsy from Northeast Philadelphia

Philadelphia Police are asking the public’s assistance in locating an endangered missing man.

Police say 60-year-old Gerald Fomalont was last seen on the 9900 block of Bustleton Avenue on Jan. 30 at 6:30 a.m.

Fomalont is said to have diminished mental capacity and cerebral palsy, according to authorities.

I just saw this on the local news - Channel 6 Action News/ABC. His sister was interviewed. Right when he left, snow squalls came through Philly and were very intense. She thinks he may have become disoriented and instead of walking to the area where he would catch a bus home, he went in a different direction. There is a state park right there near where he was last seen and they have been searching for him there. Poor man..it was extremely cold in Philly area last night, as it was in many places. And he has Cerebral Palsy.

They are also looking in shelters where many homeless were gathered up to spend the night and day to get out of the cold. His sister says he does know how to get home on his own. She still sounds hopeful.

Missing Philadelphia man with cerebral palsy found dead

Police say a Philadelphia man with cerebral palsy, who went missing during the extreme cold last week, was found dead over the weekend.

The body of Gerald Fomalont, 60, was discovered at approximately 2:48 p.m. Saturday in the 11300 block of Northeast Avenue.

There was no immediate word on a cause of death.
