This is a really sad story which ended in what I think was a bad plea deal

Michael Damgaard, 34, of Dauphin, pleaded guilty to 2 felonies, but avoided charges of rape and statutory sexual assault for crimes a girl he said he committed when she was 15 and 16.

The victim talks about being trafficked at an early age (8 years until 14 years). Apparently that is how she ended up with the couple that is now taking care of her. My main concern with this story is that the abuser ended will have a very light sentence (3 to 12 months) and does not have to register as a sex offender. That is the real tragedy
