A man facing serious child rape and abuse charges was found not guilty on all counts this week after a jury trial in Cumberland County.

Roscoe N. Roy Jr., who was arrested Jan. 27, 2023, by Lower Allen Township police and was held at Cumberland County Prison ever since, walked out Thursday with all charges dismissed.

Case prosecutor Lauren Perchinski conceded Friday her case was hampered because the victim does not live with her mom, efforts to get other relatives to testify did not bear fruit, and, for legal reasons, most of the forensic interviews could not be presented to the jury.

That said, Perchinski said it was a case that needed to be tried, and she remains “incredibly proud of the victim for coming and testifying. That wasn’t an easy thing for her to do.”
