Hyram Hill, Son Of Philadelphia Police Officer, Killed In Targeted Shooting In North Philly, Sources Say

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The son of a Philadelphia police officer was shot and killed outside a corner store Monday morning. Police sources say investigators believe 23-year-old Hyram Hill was targeted.

Philadelphia Police sources say they’re no longer considering the motive in this deadly attack to be a robbery.

Hill, a 23-year-old and son of a Philadelphia police officer from the 12th District, was targeted.

Police say there were two shooters.

He was shot a total of nine times, eight of them in the back.

Police say at 4:40 a.m. Monday, Hill had stopped to go to a corner store at Broad Street and Allegheny Avenue in North Philadelphia.

It’s believed the shooters followed him from his workplace, where he is a bouncer.

It's almost an everyday occurrence. Young man coming home from work.

Over the weekend two people in separate incidents pulled out firearms on SEPTA. Can't even ride the EL.

Hoping Hyram's mom can get some peace.

Levar Turner Turns Himself In For Murder In Shooting Of Philly Cop's Son Hyram Hill, 2nd Suspect At Large

Turner was allegedly involved in Hill’s murder. On the next day, Jan. 25, Turner was in court on gun charges stemming from a February 2020 arrest. He received three years probation.

Then, on Thursday, Jan. 27, Turner was arrested in Cheltenham on a gun charge from two weeks earlier. That Saturday, he paid $10,000 bail and was released.

In August of 2022 the judge held over Turner for trial on murder and gun charges. Pre-trial proceedings were supposed to begin in September, 2022 but I can find no further updates. I don't have access to court records. Police are still working to find the second suspect.

Okay, things are finally starting to move. In fact, a trial was ready to commence with a jury already seated, when the defense attorney made a most unusual request. He wants a second attorney to help him. Judge moved the trial to August.

Okay, so the trial was moved to August...and now nothing. So frustrating. I don't have access to court records. I hope this case doesn't vanish like so many others have done.
