Found Safe PA - Ian Fitzpatrick, 32 - State College >> Centre County - Friday, 15 June 2019

His mother lives in the Philadelphia area. He and his brother are from the Philly area as well, based on where they went to high school and where Ian went to college. I don't remember reading anything about why he was at his brother's or how long he had been there, or even what state of mind he was in when he left. It is possible though, he was mainly visiting his brother at Penn State where he is a current student, in State College.

If Ian still lives near his mom and if he were headed back home to the Philly area, 322 would be the road he'd travel on. I've driven that road a gazillion times, as I lived in State College for a year and also my daughter went to Penn State. We drove her back and forth from NJ (Philly area) many times.

If he left without realizing he had no phone and he did run out of gas, then that area of 322 is fairly isolated. West of Harrisburg the Susquehanna River, it follows the Juniata River a long ways, and all there is is the river on one side and farmland, mountains and scattered homes along the way. This offers a theory that he maybe ran into trouble after abandoning his car and had to walk or hitchhike to a gas station. That he hasn't been heard from in 5 days continues to be distressing.

And why did he go to the police department before going missing?
That is strange. I'm wondering if that is misreporting. To get to Lewistown from the main highway (322) you have to get off and drive up and into town. It's not really a stop along the way, without making a sort of diversion.
And if he was seen there, does that mean only on camera or did he go inside? Did someone speak to him? Not making any sense of that part of the report.

I know. If he did go there, I wonder what his state of mind was like? Was he lost and confused? Why would he need to go to the police department?

I feel like something important is missing in all of this. Did he have a fight with the brother?

If he had no phone, maybe he needed help and went to the police department- he could have gotten lost, pulling over to get gas, use the restroom, grab something to eat. Most people now use their GPS on their phones to help them get from one place to another these days.

Could he have had a parking ticket, traffic ticket, something to pay? I don't see anything on their website about how to pay tickets there. Lewistown Police Department – Service with Honor

Probably not at all related but there is a Blue Subaru parked illegally about 14 miles away, it's been there since Sunday. The people who it belongs to are probably walking the Appalachian trail, but figured i'd post it in case a Blue Subaru pops up in the case Old Sled Works (Link to show the post)

I’m not sure how that would fit in. If he lives in State College or if he lives near Philly, it’s hard to envision a reason he’d have a parking ticket in Lewistown. And traffic tickets along 322 would be under jurisdiction of PA State Police.

That's true. Grasping at straws here, lol.

This is a mystery for sure as to why he was at that police station.

I can only think as I said above, that maybe he had to stop for gas or something, got lost, and somehow found the police station to get directions. I have no other ideas as to why he would stop there, either.

I'm just not so sure he ever was at that police station. I've only seen it mentioned on that one poster which was copied onto the Aware site. Perhaps the message meant to say that. That the poster was hanging in Lewistown Police Station. You can't tell from google maps, but Lewistown is set into the mountain, and as I mentioned before not an along-the-way kind of stop.

I see this in other MSM reports:
"Fitzpatrick was last seen Friday morning, when he left his brother’s State College residence without a cellphone, police said in a release."

Ian Fitzpatrick was located out of county by Pennsylvania State Police at Newport.

Yay! He was found safe! I am so happy that this had a good ending. He was found in a town very close to where his vehicle was found.

ETA: Distance from the Midway exit of Highway 322 to Newport, PA is about 6 miles:

Yep. Almost as if he ran out of gas and then walked to town. Who knows the real story though, because he was missing for a lot longer than that.
