Circumstances of Disappearance:
Bean was last seen in East Norriton Township, Pennsylvania on February 16, 1993. He was at the Facenda-Whitaker Bowling Alley at the time, but he failed to return home and has never been heard from again. Bean has weak knees and uses a walking stick, but was described as alert and well-aware of his surroundings.

Bean's neighbor reported him missing on February 27, 1993, 11 days after he was last seen. His black 1991 Ford Ranger was later found abandoned in the bowling alley's parking lot on March 1, 1993.

Bean lived in Skippack Township at the time of his disappearance. His residence at 4081 Heckler Road has since been demolished and is now the site of the Skippack Elementary School. His case is unsolved and his whereabouts remain unknown.

Nobody noticed he was missing when it happened, and it feels like he has been forgotten by time ever since. I hope he is found someday and finally laid to rest with dignity.

I started digging into this a little bit, although I’m nothing more than a beginning sleuther.

I found John on FamilySearch.org. His date of death is 2000, which is when someone must have had him declared dead. He was supposedly married to a Helen Frances Shearer, but I couldn’t find any marriage records. Looks like they didn’t have any children and I don’t know if they were still together at the time of his disappearance.

This one makes me feel terrible. An elderly man (he reminds me of my dad) disappears off the face of the earth and it’s like no one cared. I wonder if he and his wife were still together at the time of his disappearance.

Looks like they weren't... By 1950 they were divorced. In 1955 she remarried... She was 37, her new husband was 67; he died in 1975, she died in 2004.

They did have 2 children... John Richard (1943-2015) and Virginia Lee (1941-alive).
