The man is accused of hitting a woman and a police chief with his pickup truck, killing the woman and injuring the chief, says the county district attorney.

John Knecht Jr., 57, was pulled over by the Honey Brook police chief on Sunday around 1 a.m. on Horseshoe Pike, the DA said in a social media post.

This story is a bit confusing. Full details from the Chester County DA's FB page:

Involuntary Manslaughter / Aggravated Assault on Police

Defendant – John Lewis KNECHT Jr., 57 YOA, Honey Brook, PA

Victim #1 – Brandie Marie BEISEIGEL, 36 YOA, Honey Brook, PA. Severe injuries, deceased.

Victim #2 – Chief Calvin WILSON, 64 YOA, Honey Brook Borough Police Department. Moderate injuries.

Defendant Vehicle – 2003 Toyota Tacoma, P/U TK, tan in color.

Troop J, Embreeville – On 04/09/23 at approximately 0107 hours, Chief Calvin WILSON of the Honey Brook Borough Police Department conducted a traffic stop on the above vehicle on Horseshoe Pike in the area of the above location. The vehicle was being operated by John Lewis KNECHT Jr., and Brandie Marie BEISEIGEL was the front seat passenger. During the course of the traffic stop, Chief WILSON determined that KNECHT Jr. had an active warrant for his arrest for Probation Violations stemming from a prior drug arrest. Chief WILSON attempted to take KNECHT Jr. into custody, but he resisted arrest while in the driver's side door area of the defendant’s vehicle. During the struggle, Chief WILSON was struck by the vehicle and sustained moderate injuries to his torso and lower body area requiring hospitalization.
In addition, BEISEIGEL was thrown from the passenger door area and was struck by the defendant’s vehicle during his flight to avoid apprehension. She sustained severe injuries and was transported to Paoli Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. The Pennsylvania State Police was notified of this incident and assigned as the investigating agency. Investigators determined that KNECHT Jr. was at a residence in Berks County on Friedensburg Road in Lower Alsace Twp. Troopers from Troops J & L, along with police officers from Central Berks Regional were able to locate KNECHT Jr. hiding in a crawl space and subsequently took him into custody after a brief struggle. The Troop J Major Case Team is investigating the incident.
