Funeral services set for Kayden Mancuso

The community is invited to a viewing on Saturday to pay respects to the 7-year-old girl. Police say Kayden’s father killed her in an apparent murder-suicide.

Funeral services for Kayden Mancuso, of Lower Makefield, will be held Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Big Oak Road in the township.

A public viewing is set to begin at 9 a.m. at the church and will be preceded by the services. The viewing will conclude at 11:30 a.m.

Kayden, 7, was killed by her father, Jeffrey Mancuso, in what police say was a murder-suicide in the Manyunk section of Philadelphia this week.

The child was reported missing by her mother Kathryn Giglio after she was not returned after a scheduled weekend visitation period.

“As far as red flags go, you wouldn’t find a guy with more red flags,” family member Kerrin Paul told CBS.

Yet he still had custody of the child during part of the weekend. Giglio told Fox29 that the murder-suicide was made possible because the judicial system “treated my sister like she was just this bitter woman who didn’t like her ex.”

“Like she just wanted to get back at her ex,” she continued. “She knew he was dangerous. We knew he was violent.”

“Kayden’s mother trusted that the law and the court system would work for her daughter’s best interests,” the page says. “However, the system failed and she was taken too soon. Kayden’s mother was told to trust the process, but the door was slammed in her face time after time.”

“Kayden’s biological father had a violent and storied history, yet the courts still allowed for modified visitation.”

Now the girl’s family are left with bittersweet memories of their time with Kayden.

I feel ill after reading the history of this horrific story!!! WHY would a judge make such a stupid decision?!!! At a minimum he could have ordered supervised visitation. Isn't a child's safety supposed to be the highest priority?

This keeps happening again and again. The child is left in a dangerous situation because everything has to fair. If a parent has been shown to violent and have poor impulse control, they should not be near any children that they can use as revenge.

A judge concluded that the father's history of violence - including punching the family dog - and his lack of personal responsibility and remorse, had substantially and adversely affected his relations with his daughter. Still, he ordered that Mancuso be allowed custody of her, but only from 10 p.m. Saturdays to 6 p.m. Sundays.

How are those times good? This does not make sense.
