We have a dollar store a block from my house. We don't drive to it. Always walk. So, I understand her walking there. It takes longer for us to drive and park there than to walk. The one reason why I do think she left the house is because her son was home. I can't wrap my hands around her not leaving it the son was home. I think she either planned to meet with someone, met with foul play, or suicide. Suicide seems the least likely, but I am not ready to rule anything out until I know more.

She reportedly never made it to the store and did not return home. Land and water searchers have been underway since in Renovo and surrounding areas. Volunteers gathered at the Renovo Fire Company and searchers were out all day Monday and all day Tuesday. Water rescue search boats were on the Susquehanna River Tuesday

Authorities said she was last seen around six p.m. Sunday when she left her home for the store. Her husband William Joseph “B.J.” Snyder said he didn’t think much about it at first, thinking she probably ran into a friend and was talking. As time went on, he began calling her friends to see if she was visiting.


None said they had seen her. He called the state police and reported her missing. He has among the searchers looking for Kelley.

*Tuesday afternoon. “She was walking to the store to buy two cans of sweet potatoes. She had a small purse with a few dollars and her identification.” He said it he didn’t think she would go anywhere without telling her son Ty.


Friends and relatives said they don’t believe that Kelley Snyder would voluntarily leave her children. Her husband said the family had spent the day relaxing and watching television. Friends said she and her children had colored Easter eggs together.

T.T. Wertz, Kelley Snyder’s sister, said Kelley and her children were in the middle of cooking Easter dinner when she left for the store. “She wouldn’t just walk away.”

Snyder’s close friends Cassandra Mann, Krystle Melvin, Tosha Packer and Heather Bixler were among those on hand at the Renovo Fire Department search staging area. They said another friend, Ashley O’Brien had visited Snyder on Sunday.


B.J. Snyder said all was going well with the family. Kelley had just recently booked reservations for the family for a trip to Disney World in October. “She wouldn’t go anywhere without the kids, without telling my son,” he said.

I wonder if she told everyone she was going for the potatoes.
Or if hubby came and said Kelly would be right back she had to run to the store for potatos.
Even if it was just down the street I would drive.

Hope they search the home!

As a NYer, I wouldn't drive anywhere I could walk. The walking part doesn't send a red flag to me.

But I would like to know if anyone in the house left the house by car that afternoon. Where did they go? Could she have been transported somewhere by someone in the house, either willingly or after something was done to her?

Grasping at straws here, all JMO.

Maybe dad was still watching TV while everyone else was in the kitchen fixing dinner? She had to have told someone that she was stepping out to get the sweet potatoes. I'm confused by those comments now. Did he mean that she would have told her son/his son if she was leaving for a longer time than just to the store?

Here's what I find weird about this statement:

If she's just walking down the street for a quick errand, why would she feel the need to tell her son? I can imagine she would just tell whoever was in the kitchen at the time with her - why bother telling the whole household when she probably expected to be back within 10 minutes or so? You don't need to notify a child of your departure for such a short time when there are other relatives in the home. This could be a slip-up that he knew she "left" and wasn't coming back, not that she planned to leave and not come back.

Saying she would never leave to buy two cans of sweet potatoes without telling her son doesn't make sense to me.

And why does he say, my son rather than our son?

Not liking it....hope I'm wrong. JMO.

Ok im confused!

Is it HER home she went missing from or her parents?
Is there a husband?
A boyfriend?
Who was coming for dinner?
Her friend was there why didn't she drive her?

I don't understand can anyone explain?

There are a couple articles that are linked in the thread that state she did go missing from her home, it mentions her husband and the friend left at 5:10, so she was apparently not there when Kelley left her home.

Hey guys I wanted to let you know that Renovo is VERY close to me. It's an hour and 12 minutes to be exact. My Great Grandomother was from there. This town does the Pennsylvania Flaming Foliage festival every October. A senior student from the school here and surrounding schools in PA attends this. But this is close to me. I just went through here a couple months ago. I know where the Dollar store is that she went to as well. So if you have any questions feel free ask and I will answer as best as I can.

I was reading about this case on our local news FB page last night. According to the comments of her friends, the Dollar General was a stones throw from her house and Renovo is a very small town where people have no reservations about walking around at any time of day or night.

Yep. Renovo is really small. The dollar general for me anyway when I am going into Renovo is right when you come into town (for me). If my mom and I were going there or traveling through we would pass the DG on the way and its located as we would be coming into town. Also to note Renovo is not far from a collage community called Lock Haven. And the info about it being near a river I am pretty sure is correct because I think we go on a bridge and there are rail road tracks there too.
