Terry A. Sherlock, handcuffed and on his way to state prison, said he was sorry for what happened to two sons -- his own, and the son of the parents who sat in the courtroom...

Sherlock's remarks got recognition from Dunlavey, who characterized them as sincere. But he gave no breaks to Sherlock, who was convicted of third-degree murder in November. Dunlavey sentenced him to 20 to 40 years -- the most the law allows...

"There is no excuse for you taking the law into your own hands," Dunlavey said.
