''PITTSBURGH — Two children were found handcuffed inside a man’s car outside Francis McClure Elementary School in White Oak after another child refused to get into the vehicle.

Investigators were called Wednesday at about 1:30 p.m. to the school on Longvue Drive. An 11-year-old boy was refusing to get in the car after being dismissed from school.''

Police say the three children were forensically interviewed and said they were physically abused by 37-year-old Richard Hayes of Mt. Oliver and his girlfriend, 26-year-old Natosha Bell of Rankin.

Hayes and Bell are facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault and false imprisonment. Police say Hayes also had a loaded handgun with him. Couple Arrested After Police Find Children Handcuffed In Car

all three children told investigators during forensic interviews that both Hayes and Bell abuse them, and “corroborating evidence” to support the children’s claims were found at Hayes home in Mount Oliver. 2 children found handcuffed inside father’s vehicle outside Pennsylvania elementary school

Couple charged with handcuffing children, locking them in basement of Mt. Oliver home
''An Allegheny County couple faces a slew of assault charges for forcing their children to sleep in locked basement rooms, physically abusing them and handcuffing them, according to police.''

"The chain of events began Wednesday at McClure Elementary School in White Oak when an 11-year-old refused to get in the car with his father at dismissal time, according to the criminal complaint. He clung to a school employee and said he didn’t want to be handcuffed again, a witness told police.

Hayes opened the side door of the minivan to try to force the child in the car. The school employee looked in the backseat and saw two other young boys, both handcuffed, according to the complaint.''

"In interviews at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, the three boys told of being locked in a small room called “The Hole,” which police discovered to be an empty coal cellar with no lights, no water, and a concrete floor, according to the complaint.''

''Police wrote that the room had no mattresses or pillows, and no running water. A makeshift toilet was fashioned out of a bucket
, according to the complaint. The youngest said he’d been put the room for taking food when he was hungry, according to the complaint, and he said Hayes made him wear handcuffs in the car.''

''Both children described other physical abuse, saying Hayes would punch and slap them and hit them with a belt, according to the complaint. The youngest said that, once, Bell held his legs while Hayes forced his head underwater in a bathtub, police wrote.''

the 11 year-old is a hero for reaching out and saving himself and his siblings
they better have parental rights terminated immediately

abusers so often beget abusers. I can't help but sometimes wonder what the parents went through in their own childhoods to make them do this to another. And what will stop these kids from doing to the same to their own later in life. Such a terrible cycle. Never enough therapy.

(Yes, I know not everyone who is abused goes on to abuse others, but research has shown an absolute connection.)

The 11 year old was so brave to reach out for help. I can imagine how hard that was. On that walk to the car, knowing what waits at home but scared to say anything because he knew his little brother s were in the van cuffed with their abusers.

I pray these babies have a better life going forward even as I know how flawed the CPS system is and they are likely to be returned eventually to their monsters.

“Help is out there, but it’s hard to get when you’re a child. You don’t know who to turn to. Who’s going to help you?,” said George Faloney.

One family said that they could hear the children inside the home screaming when they were beaten. Another family said that they only saw the kids when they were running laps as punishment. However, no one ever called the police.

Hayes has been denied bail, due to him being considered a “danger to children.”Mt Oliver couple charged after horrific child abuse found inside home

Also could not find an update, assuming covid maybe delayed the court system, speculation, imo.
''Hayes and Bell both face 14 charges, including aggravated assault, unlawful restraint of a minor, false imprisonment of a minor and child endangerment. Hayes is also charged with possessing a weapon on school property''.

IMHO Unfortunately, when no one helps you when you scream you may find you have to do what you can to help yourself and maybe others. That is what this brave child did. People are scared to get involved. I understand that BUT that is why you can make anonymous calls to LE. Poor babies.
