I don’t see how blood relation has anything to do with what happened to this kid. Step parents can be just as wonderful or terrible as biological parents. Blood doesn’t make a parent. Being there does.

THIS. So much this.

Reporter in video states:
  • We are out here near 53rd & Montgomery with five detectives and a canine unit for an hour & a half. They went inside an apartment behind me and executed a search warrant. They came out a short time later and had no evidence in hand {the way that detective kicked that door was telling}.
  • Sources tell us this is the home of the babysitter who at one point had the child.
  • King's Mom tells us she hasn't seen him in weeks after leaving him with her ex-boyfriend, who is a trusted father figure and normally spends time with the boy.
  • {Mom comes on camera, hard to understand, but says} ...Father is trying to keep my son from me, that's the way I feel, I don't think he's hurt or anything.
  • We're told the ex texted Mom, told her he left King with a babysitter. Investigators say the babysitter told them she dropped the boy off with his Mom near 31st & Montgomery.
Search Continues for Missing Philadelphia Toddler King Hill

So we have a fourth location it seems? Babysitter said she gave King to his Mom at 31st & Montgomery?

I'm pretty sure that's the one I heard last night, and immediately assumed he just misspoke & said the wrong address, since none of the other MSM updates I'm seeing are saying the same thing.

Hi all - Watching this case and finally joining the discussion. At last week's press conference, the police captain let it slip that he had reason to believe the babysitter did drop off the baby with the mom. Then he kind of back pedaled on that and said the babysitter was able to identify the mother. MOO: This made me think the police found the babysitter to be more credible than the mother. But today's press conference was a totally different story.

Today, the officer emphasized that King hasn't been seen for AT LEAST a week. To me that told me that he is now seriously doubting the babysitter's story about handing off the baby on Tuesday morning to the mom. If he is questioning when King was last seen, then he is by definition questioning the babysitter's account. He also revealed that the most recent sighting of King prior to the 7th was still the unconfirmed July 4th sighting that he mentioned last week. To me this also signals that the babysitter and the stepdad have no proof (photos or credible witnesses) to back up that King was fine and with either of them on the 5th, 6th, 7th at least. So sad.

The police captain seemed more worried. I think he was hoping this was custody shenanigans last week when he raised alarm bells out of "caution." Today I wanted to jump in the screen and push the reporters to ask more questions...

1) When did the stepdad last see King? (it sounds like this was before July 4th .... this is very sad)

2) When was King last seen prior to the unconfirmed 4th of July sighting?

3) If you need the public's help regarding possible sightings prior to the 7th, don't you think it would help if you released the name and/or neighborhood of the babysitter? Possibly the same for stepdad? (street/ block)

4) With all of these resources, have you been able to review any footage of the location and time of the supposed hand off?

(I'd guess they HAVE found some footage and cell phone evidence and are not yet willing to discuss it) Again, MOO.

Okay, in this video interview with the mom she's standing in front of the doorway of the 31xx Page street address so I assume it's her home.
Mom Pleads for Safe Return of 2-Year-Old Missing in Philly

In this video the mom is standing in front of a different address, 32xx A. So I'm guessing she lives at the Page St. address and this interview was done at a friend or relative's house?
Mother of King Hill pleads for child's safe return

I x'd out the full addresses. So if mom lives on Page then where does the stepfather live? And where does the 33rd St. and Diamond come in? If I'm reading the articles correctly the babysitter did say she dropped King off *to* his mother. I'm soooo confused!

WELCOME MoeInVA to Websleuths!!!!!!
Thank you!! Also here are the MSM links to the full press conferences (which I referenced and are more informative than the news clips).
Last week (around 5:30 is when police slip and say they have reason to believe babysitter's story) 6abc Action News on Facebook Watch
This week's press conference (best i found but the recording starts a tad late .. at around 5:15 the police Captain says King has been missing "at least, at least, at least a week"): Philadelphia police provide update on King Hill

Well... I was really hoping that this was a custody issue and King would be found safe and sound by now :(

Apparently not.

So, I stand by my initial comment that if my 2 yr. old grandchild was missing, I would be the one in jail after having “talks” with ALL 3 players involved here. Someone is responsible for this precious child missing. Someone HAS to know something, right? Where is King??
MOO this is so frustrating- it’s so hard to follow the missing children’s threads because I usually end up heartbroken. Please let him be safe.

Watching Fox29 news. Talking about today's search. The mother was there. Searchers met at 33rd and Diamond. RF, a community activist is outraged. The group also searched Fairmount Park. Recap of the mother saying the stepfather said King was returned to her but he wasn't. LE verifies FBI and State Police are now involved. That's about it.

There is so much about this case that makes me want to vomit.

The baby is two. AH, the mother, says she doesn't know babysitter very well.

From July 7 presser:
"Police said the babysitter had cared for the child for two years"

A photo of King and his father attached via @kelly Rule WTXF
That picture is King's uncle, not father.

Is there any confirmation of the exchange between the babysitter and the mother?

- Babysitter says she dropped him off with the mother, the mother however denies this.

So who is lying here? And possibly why?

Thank you! And welcome to WS! I thought that he said they believed babysitter’s story!

Sorry for multiple posts. If the babysitter was King’s babysitter for 2 years, how does the mother have no knowledge of her?

  • #276
Surely by now they have video of something? Where is this little boy?

Ok now I’m thinking maybe Mum got King back but handed him to someone else as she wasn’t prepared to take care of him. And she now has lost track of whoever she handed him to. It all seems very chaotic.

MOO My opinion and thoughts only

I’d love to know what triggered the babysitter to take King back to his mother (assuming that’s what happened of course). The stepdad as far as we know didn’t ask her to, and the mother says she didn’t know anything about it, so why would the babysitter take King anywhere period?

This stinks. I feel like everyone is lying.

I thought I read that the mother requested him back via the step father, for his upcoming birthday.
