omg what was she thinking getting involved with him.

That was my thought. They showed a picture of her with this beautiful smile, and him, well, he looks like a sleezebag. :(

If she had a tatoo like you are saying that would be enough for her Father to give a preliminary identification. We had to do that when they found my brother in law's body, so she was probably there the whole time. They will do further DNA at the lab for full identification. I am so saddened by this my prayers go out to her family, and her little girl. The healing process is a long one.

I find myself more and more asking myself who raises these guys who think it is OK to kill these women and their babies.

What the HECK is wrong with people that they can do this...not only to someone they supposedly care about, but the mother of his child, HIS own child in her tummy as well as her being a mother and taking that away from her daughter?!!! I just don't get it!! :furious:

What a sad, sad situation!!! How dare anyone do this to anyone!!! :furious:

This is what we have to question over and over. There is an answer somewhere.

They're heartless, cold and evil human beings, not to feel anything for the victim or her family! That poor little child without a Mom now...what a cold, unfeeling man he must be..didn't this show up in his relationships with others?

How do you ever pick these guys out?

His current girlfriend is also pregnant. Ain't she just the lucky one! Good thing he got caught before she was the next victim.

When this first happened, our local news carried the story about this girlfriend beating up and kicking in the stomach the current victim. I wouldn't be at all surprised if she is involved.

Concerned I agree with you there is an answer somewhere, but I don't know where it is. Although these guys who commit these crimes are adults and are responsible for their own behavour, something has to be very wrong in the way they are raised.
What makes them think that a life is disposable at their whim and especially a woman who is pregnant with their child? What kind of twisted logic were they taught? I am aware that there are exceptions such as drug abuse etc: but that's not what we have been hearing lately. I have to tell you it is very scary and very disheartening.

I don't know....I just don't know how people can take a life, much less one they proclaim(ed) to love or like enough to sleep with and get pregnant!! And his baby!!! I'm relieved she and her unborn baby were found, but said it was this way. It's like an epidemic!!!

this is getting epidemic!

i wonder sometimes if some of these guys are looped out on drugs. is this something they plan or something that happens at the spur of the moment during a fight? a poor baby~!

Misty, I agree.

Its one right after another. And how many don't we hear about.

This is all rolled up to gether with the spouse, child abuse and moving into murder.

Something has to give. Now two children have to be raised without a parent. One gets to live on the welfare rolls, maybe, and the other has to live on her slain mothers social security.

This is such a sad, and bizarre tale.

All her life, since her girlhood, LaToyia has been afraid she would be murdered as her mother was when she was a child.

And in a bizarre twist of fate, she was. Exactly like her mother.

Now, will her daughter carry this terror all her life TOO?

It's almost surreal.

Stephen Poaches, the ex-boyfriend who told police and a radio audience that he knew nothing of La'Toyia Figueroa's disappearance, was arrested trying to move the pregnant woman's decomposing body in Chester, Pa., Saturday, police said.

It is because of Figueroa's family that the public knows the names of other missing women, including 15-year-old Latoya Byrd, who was last seen on March 27 in her West Philadelphia neighborhood, said Kim Fuller-Green, Byrd's cousin.

Police said Poaches led them to Figueroa's body, but they would not say how they knew he was in Chester. At the news conference, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Sylvester Johnson would not say whether Figueroa was killed in Chester or whether her body had been put there. Nor would Johnson say whether police suspect he had an accomplice.

"I don't want to say at this point if he did it alone or not alone," Johnson said.

Figueroa's body was found shortly after midnight. A tattoo that said "angel" on her right wrist confirmed her identity, said her cousin Mary Padilla, 56, of Northeast Philadelphia.

Residents of the area where she was found said they heard screams in the direction of the lot about 1:35 a.m. last Wednesday.

"We heard screams - desperate screams," said Linda Slydell, 56. A woman's "whining cry."

She did not call police.

Coard said Poaches accompanied Figueroa, who was five months pregnant when she disappeared, on a medical appointment on July 18, and that the couple had found out then that they were having a girl. Coard said they planned to name her Nyla.

Coard said that despite their intimate relationship, Poaches had never been Figueroa's boyfriend.

Well this is odd. Poache's lawyer stated Poache had never been Figueroa's "boyfriend". Maybe we need a legal definition for "boyfriend" that doesn't involve having sex and fathering a child. Give me a BREAK.

But MORE ODD, by far, is that they learned on July 18 that they were to have a girl baby.

Excuse me, didn't the media report she DID NOT see her doctor, because they couldn't come up with 35 bucks co-pay that day?

But the lawyer says not only did they see the doctor, apparently the had a sonogram and named the baby girl on the spot?

Weirder and weirder.

I can't wait to hear how this is explained to a jury, the NOT BF who was the father of her child, went with her to the NOT Doc Appt:. At the NOT Doc Appt she had an Invisible sonogram and found out she was having a Girl. Then she and the NOT BF even named named the baby. Should go over real well.

What is with the neighbour who hear screams and a woman's no less and don't call police. Then hear Latoyia is missing and still don't call, I swear it is like an episode of the twilight zone. Would not your first thought be to pick up the phone and tell someone what you heard? Perhaps it is a NOT neighborhood...........

That is very strange. I wonder if she relayed that fear to this low-life while they were together. :(

Chester is not a nice place. There are some bits that are pretty, but for the most part it is a slum. It is also nowhere near the area where LaToyia disappeard from, so you wouldn't think "Screams? Might be LaToyia".

I'm not defending the lady - just 'splainin'. Chester is a cesspool. It is probably uncommon for there to NOT be screaming women on any given night.

This article is from yesterday. This woman heard screams and 'whining' Wednesday? ...........LaToyia had been missing for weeks.

Either:
1. He kept her alive then just killed her
2. He brought his live-in GF and showed her what he'd done and she was upset
3. The 'screams' had absolutely nothing to do with this case.

After what luthersmama said, I say #3. ;)

Poor LaToyia and her family. this is so sad. Bless her little girl.
