Allentown police are trying to locate a woman who relatives say has been missing for nearly a week.

Police said family members on Saturday reported Maria Mendez-Maldonado, 33, has not been in touch with her family since Jan. 15. Mendez-Maldonado previously made several statements to family and friends that have led relatives to be concerned for her welfare.

Mendez-Maldonado may be staying with friends or at homeless encampments, police said. They said she also made statements about leaving to stay at an unknown location in McAdoo, Schuylkill County, but detectives have not been able to confirm that information.

Police said Mendez-Maldonado is described as 5-foot-2, weighing about 160 pounds and has black hair.

She might also be in Reading. There is a large homeless community of veterans there and some non-veterans integrate themselves into events providing food and clothing to homeless vets. A good group to reach out to with a photograph would be the "Second Brigade MC". They do a LOT of homeless vet work there.
