Pa. man to be resentenced in 1993 beating murder
PITTSBURGHA resentencing hearing has been ordered for a man convicted of third-degree murder in the death of a woman who passed away 14 years after she was beaten.
Stevenson Rose, 49, was sentenced to 20 to 40 years in the 1993 death of Mary Mitchell at Larimer Park in East Liberty. Authorities said Rose and another man slashed the victim's neck, kicked and stomped her and caused other internal injuries with a 14-inch piece of metal.
Mitchell survived, but her injuries left her in a vegetative state before her death in 2007, after which Rose was charged in Allegheny County with murder.
