Caretaker gets probation in death of elderly woman due to bed-bug bites - pennlive.com

A West Manheim Township woman pleaded no contest to avoid jail time in the death of a 96-year-old woman due to apparent bed-bug bites.

York Dispatch reports Deborah Butler, 73, pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of neglect of care of a dependent person.

She was sentenced to five years of probation, and her charges of involuntary manslaughter and first-degree felony of neglect of care were dismissed.

Her plea agreement also stipulates she cannot be a caretaker during her probation, according to the report.
