Two people were killed when at least 11 were shot at a home in Pittsburgh’s East Allegheny neighborhood on the North Side early Sunday, officials said.

As many as 200 people — many of them underage — were attending a large party at an Airbnb rental property near the intersection of Suismon Street and Madison Avenue when up to 50 shots were fired around 12:30 a.m., Pittsburgh Public Safety spokeswoman Cara Cruz said.

I’m guessing an adult rented the house for these underage kids to party in.

An irresponsible adult....

Rounds never chamber themselves, triggers never squeeze themselves -- people do those things.

“The family went back to the site Sunday morning to get their belongings. The mom told Channel 11 she had a bad feeling about staying overnight and was concerned for their safety.

“Since I don’t operate the unit upstairs, it’s a completely separate entity, there’s nothing I can legally do about what was going on upstairs. There’s no way I could’ve stopped it,” the downstairs host, Stephen Long, said.

Long showed our crew the bullet holes by the beds that the family would’ve slept in. He said he’s grateful the family stayed in a hotel Saturday night.”

Did the renters contact the downstairs host to notify him of the party/noise/crowd informing him of their departure and did he offer to put them up in a hotel?

Did the downstairs host contact the police to report the party since he knew it was against Airbnb policy?

I found it was useful to know the other hosts in a shared building when we had an Airbnb unit. Thank goodness we sold ours a while back, the party situation was getting out of control. Parents would rent for their high school kids and leave the house.

Fast Fundraising?
@SassySquatch Thanks for your post w link
The shootings resulting in two deaths started around midnight EDT.
The fundraiser w a $50,000 goal to "help victims and their families pay for funeral costs" and not referring to the deceased by their names, popped up about 6:00 a.m. Pittsburgh time.
I wonder if this campaign organizer is actually related to or associated w victims or their families.

Why not $50000 fund for the cops just working the night shift having to roll into an active gunfight with mass casualties and people jumping out of windows on a holiday?

Problems with Airbnb persist in the city and it's become a thorn in the side of residents who say investors continue to buy up homes and convert them into short-term rentals, resulting in more noisy, late nights and garbage-strewn mornings.

"Parties going on into the wee hours of the morning, beer cans, bottles being left behind," said John Augustine, a resident of the Mexican War Streets.
