@othram you've worked with this department before. Is these are forensically relevant, they may be good candidates for genealogy

I wonder how this happens.

I saw all of these as well. Have to wonder about the "how". Surprising no info was written on the bag, that would certainly be helpful. I was told about 15 or so years ago by an ME that NCIC didn't use to allow the entry of partial remains cases, perhaps that is part of the reason, don't know.

I was also told by LE in around 2006, that previous NCIC cases had to be validated on an annual basis by the originating case agency and if they weren't, they were automatically purged from the system. This was eventually changed such that the case was only purged if requested by the originating agency. The particular case in interest for me was a 1990 Jane Doe that was purged from the system and was then re-entered in 2006. All of the possible matches in those 16 years were just lost :(

Oh wow, I was just going through namus and came across this huge group of postings from my hometown. Interesting that this isn’t larger news, someone at DCOME is clearly at fault.

If genealogy isn't an option, running dna thru codis and hoping for a match is probably their best bet.

No one's gonna be able to manually match these remains up to anyone without more info

I'm thinking that these remains are all medical specimens

There's a total of 7 femurs. I believe that would indicate that all of these remains belong to at least 4 different people

The 3 pairs would each belong to a body And then you have the lone femur that would belong to someone else
