“Police said she was last seen in Uniontown on Friday night driving her white vehicle. She was reported missing by a family member on Saturday.

State police found her vehicle on private property on Jumonville Road in North Union Township on Saturday after it was discovered by the property owner.

Police said an extensive search in that area has been underway since then.”

Wonder who saw her last on Friday night? Is she familiar with the area where her car was found? MOO

Where is this woman?

She also goes by the name Melanie McCay Prokop. An obituary for her husband from 2017 shows they lived in Houston, Texas.

Wondering if she is originally from PA or Texas? Did she come to live close to family? So many questions.

Search party hoping to find Fayette County woman missing for 2 weeks
Mike Holden 3 days ago

“She could be anywhere out there so someone could’ve dumped her car out here. We just don’t have any leads of her being anywhere else,” L. P. said. Her mother’s last known interaction was with a police officer. She asked the officer for directions. The officer helped her, but her family believes she might have gotten lost after that.

Update from Jan 29 with a timeline: Melanie Prokop Search Party - Uniontown, PA

Apparently the police believe that she walked away from the car, got lost in the woods and succumbed to the elements. They will conduct another search in a few months. The family has created a missing poster, offering a reward for information, but it has not been shared on the above missing page yet.

This one is in my area near Maryland and West Virginia. There is a Facebook page, someone is overflying the area with a drone and taking plenty of photos in the hopes of spotting her. I have looked at a few of the pix, and pareidolia makes every log and rock outcropping look like a person (think Mars Rat and the Man in The Moon). There is a narrow window for drone use and it is right now. The snowcover is melting and ground is visible, but in a few short weeks the trees will sprout leaves, rendering a drone less useful. Unfortunately, the rough terrain requires a fairly high altitude to maintain communication with the drone.
We have a few cases like this every year, someone is lost and usually hunters find them in the fall.
I’m not sure what most of you know about Pennsylvania, but there are some mountainous remote areas, and it is still quite possible to become quite lost here.

Kudos to C.B. for his kindness and determination to finding Melanie. He searched using his drone over the course of multiple days. Each time he posted hundreds of pics to the FB group so others could help look through them. He successfully found Melanie's remains in a location he says he was guided to by a dream. C.B. will forever be a hero to Melanie's loved ones. Hopefully his efforts and success will inspire others to lend a helping hand to families of MPs.

Rest peacefully, Melanie.
