I was just ranting to a co-worker about a parent I saw in the drugstore at lunchtime. She was waiting for a prescription for her husband. While waiting, she and her little girl were browsing around the store. This "drugstore" sells all sorts of stuff - cards, toys, Christmas decorations, jewelry - you name it. The little girl kept saying "I want that! I want this" etc. Mom, instead of saying "No" kept saying things like "I'm sorry - I don't have enough money for that" or "That's too big for you" or whatever. The kid was getting more and more worked up and started to scream so, instead of taking her outside or sitting her down in a chair, the dumba$$ mom starts negotiating with the little terrorist as to what she WILL buy for her. Offering small toys etc. The little girl appeared to be about 3.
I do NOT want to see her when she is 13.
Why can't parents be parents anymore?
