"Sometime in the early 80s"... What parent forgets the day their 17 year old child went missing? I'd take a look at the parents again.

He was NOT her father although they liked to pretend he was. Monique was his step daughter. Her father was alive and well before she disappeared. Her Mother and Stepfather never even reported her missing originally. I'm Monique's neice. There is a lot of information given by her mother and siblings that dont add up. My father searched for her before be died in 98. My sister's and I have continued to look since we became old enough too. I truly believe that something happened at home. The family doesn't even talk about her or have pictures of her up. Her one brother was posting on FB about her but their Mother for angry at him for it so he stopped I obviously don't talk to that side of my family, but I want to get the truth about my aunt!! Hopefully find her alive, but most likely to get justice for her!!

Hi. Do you know if Monique had an ankle or foot injury that required a pin? Did she wear a special shoe? Did she have a plastic orbital plate on one of her eyes? Did she wear a wig?

I honestly do not. She disappeared 3-4 years before I was born. Dates seem to be conflicting as some have said she disappeared in 82 and others say 83. My dad died when I was 11 so I never really got any real information from him. I have asked others and gotten very little as they had been given the same run around from my dads side of the family. My "Grandmother" even flipped out when she founf out my Uncle had been making Facebook posts in hopes to find his little sister. She said she doesn't want the familys "personal business" 0r Photos on Monique circulating the internet, as she doesn't trust people (giant eyeroll inserted here).

That is such a shame that your Grandmother acted liked that about your Uncle posting on FB. Monique's NamUs profile has 19 rule outs to Jane Does, so I am taking it someone from the family submitted DNA? Do you have any idea who it submitted it since some of her family really doesn't want to talk about her disapperance. Very sad all around. I hope your family gets answers.

I 100% agree with Ashleymonique. This beautiful young lady had a huge family! I have heard that NO ONE is or has attempted to look for her since the time she went missing. The poor girl! She had a drug problem but that doesn't mean that you just forget about her, c'mon! Also, her DOB is September 24, 1964, which means she would have been turning 19 the next month, therefore, she WAS NOT 17 when she went missing. Who the hell gave out this incorrect information? Let alone so minimal amount of details! Obviously someone that didn't care about her, c'mon she was only a teenager, still in need of care! And what's this malarkey about not wanting to post her photos around the internet? If you truly cared about your child, you would do anything to find them! So sad!

Where did you read she had a drug problem? I never really found much of anything on her.

I knew one of her sisters , they told me a few things about her . Seemed very suspicious . But that’s all they had to say, it almost seemed as if they didn’t even remember her disappearance …..

even though I don’t have contact with her family members anymore, her case still stays with me. I ask anyone who has any contact with her family to try to get more info from them (if they even remember :(
This young woman needs to have justice and respect, despite the fact that it’s almost 40 years later. Like I’ve said in an earlier post from what I have seen in other posts, her mother refused to give out her photos and there is barely any essential info available in her case. (A photo was added last year on The Charley Project (whoo hoo, yeah 37 years later the family could spare a photo of their daughter LOL)) . This breaks my heart, almost like her own family has given up on her. But please if anyone knows anything about the family, I hope you can get more info from them. God Bless Monique McClelland!

I'm a Levittown native who's only just now learning about this case. Thank you to everybody for all this information; I'm going to dive deeper and see what else (if anything) I can find/learn. This case sounds so damn frustrating that it's maddening.

I've lurked these forums for years but haven't registered until now. Thanks for the motivation to do so!

I have an explanation for this, as well as the Jane Doe rule-outs. I spoke to a records officer at the Bensalem Police Department this morning. The case file number in NamUS is actually referring to a completely different case of a Jane Doe found in Bensalem in 1983. Where Monique McClelland comes in is that her family came forward in 1983 and thought that she might be that Jane Doe. Her family have since submitted DNA samples to CODIS, and Monique was ruled out as the Bensalem Doe (and the identity of that Jane Doe has since been determined).

Bensalem PD also informed me that Monique's home was in Bristol Township's jurisdiction, but when they tried to track down Bristol's records, the police there didn't have any. So even though some of her family came forward in 1983 because they thought the Bensalem Doe was Monique, they never actually reported her missing.

(That 1983 Doe, by the way, is currently the subject of an active criminal investigation. Bensalem PD denied a records request for that information and refused to say anything about it.)

If you're referring to Publicker Jane Doe/Lisa Todd, she was found in 1988, not 1983.
