My theory is Nancy and Nalanis dad had an argument in the car in her rage she’s driven off with the child and left her somewhere maybe hoping she would Be found then when the police have arrested her she’s panicked and she doesn’t want to tell the police she kidnapped the child so she made up the story about the dad selling his daughter
Good theory.... a couple of hours she could’ve just thought she’d use Nalani as a bargaining chip for whatever that argument was in the car, as we currently know it to be from yesterday’s press conference. Never thought maybe he would call 911. But then at that point that you’re pulled over, just give up the tea (as the kids are saying these days). Would she have made it worse for herself at that point coming up with some grandiose baby selling scheme knowing Nalani was out there alive?
SO. MANY. QUESTIONS. But I guess you can’t rationalize irrational behavior, and irrationality and protecting Nalani seems to be lacking by MANY around her that should’ve known better!!!!

Like Benedryl or something?

I noticed NyQuil at Sheetz when I looked last night. I looked at it twice as I was looking for an item with a square bottom. Thinking maybe she bought milk or juice for the baby. Anyways, NyQuil had kind of a triangular bottom. It was right by the checkout counter.

This is just unreal. Why?!!!

Police who were on the scene tell KDKA Nalani was found in her car seat with no visible signs of trauma. The experienced investigators suspect dehydration.
Honestly, lost all faith in humanity tonight. This perfect ANGEL literally THROWN out of the car, car seat and all, like trash. I can’t.

We need that autopsy report. Do we know if she had any medical conditions?

The reporter said he or someone at KDKA spoke to the DA (or DA's office?) - they were having a meeting about the jurisdictional issue... MOO
We need to hope it’s Allegheny County that “wins” jurisdiction. Indiana doesn’t have the experience to handle it. From your experience, what is the factors in deciding jurisdiction? Time of from the autopsy?

Authorities seek public's help in abducted toddler's death investigation
  • Investigators are continuing to ask for the public’s help.
  • They are asking business owners or anyone else located along Route 22 who may have video footage to contact them.
  • The timeframe police are looking for is from 5:23 p.m. and 7:25 p.m. Saturday.
  • Anyone who knows Sharena Nancy or has information that could aid the investigation, please call the Allegheny Police tipline at 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
  • Police say callers can remain anonymous.

Also, his Dad has the same name and was quoted that he (Nalani’s Grandpa) didn’t know Nancy.
As for the PFA.... unfortunately none of know if it was originally filed out of truth, or retaliation for whatever in a domestic dispute. I’m hoping the latter and that Nalani ever being in danger from one of her parents isn’t true. HOPING, but sill keep an open mind until more facts come out. Perhaps pie in the sky thinking on my part.

BBM

There was at least one witness to some of the violent behavior.

Anyone know how long it takes to determine the location of a cell phone ping?

If Nancy’s phone ping ultimately led police to the location at Pine Ridge Park, I cannot help but wonder if they had gotten there on Saturday night or Sunday, might Nalani have still been alive?

I realize autopsy will give a time of death, and we have so much more to learn.

But I can’t get this thought out of my head.
Great minds thinking and posting alike. Same questions posted on my end.

So now I have a question for everyone- why were they at that house near that park, and what did they take out of there, and why?

If Nancy acted alone and left Nalani there in the park in the car seat, what does that house have to do with it?

With the FBI involved, with offices in Pittsburgh, I believe it will be Allegheny County. She’s in the Allegheny County jail.

PFA filed against Nalani Johnson's father, 4 months before police say toddler was kidnapped while in his care
[...]

According to the protection from abuse paperwork, Duarte wrote, "After picking me up from work he snatched my phone out of my hand, pulled over, pulled his gun and put it to his head threatening to kill himself. My daughter was in the backseat. He then admitted to almost killing my daughter and himself."

A judge ordered Johnson to surrender all of his weapons, excluded him from the home he shared with Duarte and granted only supervised visitation with Nalani.

According to Penn Hills Police Chief Howard Burton, the PFA expired April 30 and was not active at the time police said Nalani went missing while in the care of her father on Saturday.

And yet 4 months later, he had her alone. If this is all true, I really hope she becomes and advocate, or something.
Whatever domestic relationship people are in, put the children first!!

I agree with what your saying and why not drop the child off somewhere more public where she would be guaranteed to be found I think we’re thinking rationally and she was thinking erratically thats why nothing she has done makes any sense if she did leave her there alive then she obviously cared more about getting herself out of trouble than saving that little girls life plus she sat in that car smoking cigarettes chatting away to her husband in India at any point she could have returned to the child rang the child’s dad and agreed to take her back

It hasn’t been said by LE or reported yet by the news, to the best of my knowledge. Two of us went to our local Sheetz yesterday just before/during her being found was happening. While the Sheetz employees were helpful, we didn’t come up with anything.
Refillable pop (soda) containers don’t match.
Cigs and vapes are kept behind the counter and I think we all left it there because you just can’t really tell. I am sure LE know from the purchasing timing, but I haven’t seen this was said.

Good question. I was hoping they were collecting surveillance footage but it doesn't sound like it since it was also taped off (I think?). MOO

Exactly!! We see this time and time again and nothing changes it outrages me!

Maybe she didn’t expect him to call the police?

Yes, but unfortunately by them not going to court that day, it was dismissed. I hear you though, and I’ll go back and read more up on that PFA tonight for sure. TY!

We're going to need an attorney for that one, I think. @riolove77, can you help?
  1. Nalani was kidnapped in Allegheny County, PA.
  2. Her body was found in Indiana County, PA.
  3. We don't know when, where, or how she died (although her autopsy was performed today).
  4. The DA's and investigative agencies met today to discuss jurisdiction.
  5. Where are we going to trial and how is that decided? :)
MOO

That's my guess as well. MOO

Nalani Johnson: Investigators fear tot girl found deceased in woods may have died from dehydration [Report]
[...]

CBS Pittsburgh reports that while autopsy results are not yet available, investigators on the scene at Pine Ridge Park told local reporters that they suspect 1-year-old Nalani Johnson may have died from dehydration.

Authorities reportedly found the little girl still in her car seat in a wooded area of the park. Her body showed no signs of trauma, the outlet reports.

[...]

Nancy’s neighbor, NZ, told the outlet that she heard Paul and Nancy arguing often. She also said Nancy seemed “not right.”
