A little more on the location she was found. It seems very close to the Reesers Summit exit. Feds seeking public’s help in identifying human remains found in central Pa.
I am from Western PA, so I wasn't exactly sure where she was from other than seeing on NamUs it said York County. My son's roommate is from York, I sent it to him to see if he heard about this. (he probably thinks I am so weirdo)

Like you said she was probably a transient. She was wearing multiple layers of clothing so I am thinking winter months for sure.

The remains were swathed in multiple layers of clothing, the website reported. She had been wearing two jackets - an outer jacket with the brand name Coogi and an inner jacket by Zeroxposure - over a large Nike T-shirt and two bras, a black sports bra and a 34B padded, underwire bra, underneath. A single Nike tie-die sneaker - youth size 4.5 - was found nearby, several feet down an embankment.

Fairview Township Police originally said the remains were found along the 300 block of Pleasant View Road, but the NamUs portal links to the intersection of Brandt Avenue and 16th Street, near a daycare center and church in Cumberland County.

That’s a difference of around 3.4 miles.

A PennLive reporter contacted an officer with Fairview Township Police regarding the address discrepancy but was unable to confirm if the remains were found in York County or Cumberland County.

Several pieces of jewelry were found on her body, including three silver-colored rings; a black, plastic choker necklace; and a "Fossil" brand watch

Still unidentified.

June 25, 2025

Since the discovery, detectives have worked with a forensic artist affiliated with the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) to create composite sketches of what the person may have looked like.

"A description of the remains released by NamUs details similar characteristics to Stouffer, including the hair color and estimated age."

If earlier estimates for the time of death are correct, it's unlikely to be Kourtne Stouffer. Her thread: PA - PA - Kortne Ciera Stouffer, 21, Palmyra, 29 July 2012 #7

  • #13
I want to add, Kortne went missing in July, the UID was found wearing cold weather clothing. Kortne is 5'8" and the UID is estimated to be 4' 8"-5' 3".

I thought it resembled her also. This is what the updated article said

The detective investigating the case confirmed to CBS 21 they received tips about a potential connection to Kortne Stouffer, who went missing in 2012 from Palmyra, as the sketches bear resemblance.

However, her family confirmed to CBS 21 that the remains do not belong to Stouffer, according to the DNA results.

The sister of Stouffer said the remains found in December have nothing to do with her sister's case.

As the search continues for Stouffer, police are continuing to try to identify these human remains.

I agree that there is a resemblance but Mekayla is listed as ruled out in NamUs: The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)
