Patricia Hullenbaugh, 21, is facing multiple charges, including endangering the welfare of a child, strangulation, possessing an instrument of crime, and filing a false report after she was accused of smothering her son and staging his death to cover it up.

“Three officers were at that address within three minutes, and were presented with an unresponsive 9-month-old infant male,” Schawl told WPXI.

The baby didn’t have a pulse and wasn’t breathing.

“This is a tragedy,” Indiana Borough Police Chief Justin Schawl said to WPXI. “It’s a criminal act and it’s a tragedy at the same time.”

I guess the baby was crying too loudly, or being fussy, or both. Grrrrrr.
I cannot imagine what it must be like when LE or a Social Worker, etc., has to go in and check on an infant or young child at a residence and find that the child is dead or nearly so. SMH

During that interview, she allegedly admitted to authorities that she had put a blanket over her son's head "until he stopped crying," the statement said. When she removed the blanket, the child was not breathing, according to the statement.

She then allegedly "positioned" his body "in a specific way to hide her involvement" instead of reaching out for help, according to the statement.

Hullenbaugh allegedly “panicked” and placed the child between the slats in an attempt to “cover up” her actions, a criminal complaint states, WPXI reported.

She allegedly admitted that she didn’t wake up the boy's father until 15 minutes after the incident, per the complaint.
