I am reading now that isotope analysis showed that she was from the Great Lakes area. So she may not be Mary Kay Radford probably, but I think a DNA test would be just a bit more certain.

So after reading that she might be from Great Lakes region and possibly Canada, I did a search of Canadian missing persons and found this:

Alison Mary Thomas
https://www.services.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/missing-disparus/case-dossier.jsf?case=2008015199&id=3

The age, height, and time frame (last seen September 27, 1978) are good. It says Alison was thin and slender and had good dentals like the UID. I cannot seem to find any information on her other than what is on Canada's missing page, and I don't like that they only have one black and white picture of her.

Any thoughts?

WOW. She looks very close. Just like Carl's recon! She could easily have hitched a ride to Pennsylvania and died there.

I was really optimistic about catherine.'s match, so I submitted it to both the Canadian LE and Don Chewning.

Originally to Don Chewning, I wrote:

"Hello,

Regarding this female decedent. It has been brought to my attention that she bears a strong resemblance to Alison Mary Thomas, missing from Toronto, Ontario, since September 27, 1978.

An isotope analysis has shown that she likely hailed from the Great Lakes area, Michigan or perhaps Canada. Thomas was Canadian.

They also share similar facial features, as is demonstrated in the attached images. The skeletal reconstruction is courtesy of Carl Koppelman.

They both had good dentition and similar hair appearances. The height and weight on this UID are unknown. The circumstances on the case are possible, as the estimated date of death of the UID is shortly after Thomas' disappearance.

Please respond and let me know if you think this is a viable match.

- *my name*"

I got a response from Don Chewning. "I would like to know more about *my name* before I answer any questions."

I responded that I was part of Websleuths. No response yet.

Was my email bad? I think I followed the sticky note "Tips before submitting" pretty well.

I heard from squish on 1985 Gray Jane Doe's thread that a rule is that you cannot mention Websleuths when emailing LE! But I couldn't find it on tips before submitting. Is this true? How can I remedy this? I am very worried.

Try not to worry, you will know for next time.

Thanks so much for submitting this. Its a shame that the detective wasn't very forthcoming. You could also try doing this the other way around by contacting the detective investigating Alison Mary Thomas' case to bring this possible match to their attention. Let them do the talking with this detective. :)

I did both. I hope it is tested!

No problem! I think you may have found a match. I am really looking forward to their reply.

"I will have to look but I think Alison Thomas has no DNA or dental work on file. It makes it extremely difficult to make a match in these old cases. Canada's DNA will not interface with the US, thus manual comparisons must be made. I will check with Canada, but I think I confirmed she had no DNA or dental charts on file. I will double check because things change over time.

Thanks for looking into this, the help is always appreciated. I've done a ton of work on this, but my current cases take priority. These cases turn into a hobby project when I'm not slammed with other cases.

Don Chewning"

So that was his response. Does this mean that Alison was already considered? I don't know. I really hope her info is obtained because this looks so closem

OK--I got a response from the Canada side today. Apparently the link I followed on the website to email the agency was wrong? But she forwarded it to the right person:

"Good Afternoon:

Thank you for taking the time to submit the above tip regarding Alison Mary Thomas (missing). I have forwarded the tip to the investigating agency.

Regards,
Heather Bowden"

Hoping more is heard soon, and that it is looked into. I don't want to get my hopes up too much, but this looks promising--great catch, catherine.!

Very strong facial resemblance, good dentals for both, Alison was from the Great Lakes area of Canada, both slender and red-haired, good time frame...I can't find a discrepancy! Perhaps she ran to the US after a fight with her boyfriend, unmentioned because he was afraid of being named a suspect?

Just figured out how to do side-by-side pictures today...here is Alison alongside TGWTTJ.

Thanks Springrain! I really hope that there is something to compare.

Her jewelry is so distinctive that I would have thought she would be identified by now.

Got an email from the PD today. Alison has been ruled out on dentals.
Dang, I really thought it'd be a match. We'll keep looking though!

Bummer. At least we have a definite answer now. You're absolutely right, we just keep looking!

I was especially disappointed because I really thought it was her! Looked super promising.

I'm completely new to this, but both of these cases stuck out to me based on the jewelry.

Kim Louise Mallon was last seen in Los Angeles in September 1973. The time frame doesn't fit of course, but she had to go somewhere for 5 years. According to her NameUs she was wearing a turquoise pendant. Her height, weight, age, hair would be right.

Michelle Elaine Meiser was last seen in St. Paul in March 1977. She had turquoise rings and a black onyx ring like the UID. Age, height, and weight are right. Michelle is Native American though.

I personally believe the theory about Mary Gregory would be a good thing to look into. Since the testing on the Jane Doe indicated possible links to the Great Lakes region and Canada, it wouldn't hurt to submit it to the medical examiner.

I'm wondering if Mary Frances Gregory has been ruled out? Under ruleouts, a Francis Gregory is listed. Could they be one and the same?
