Dear Philly Independence John Doe, happy 27th anniversary of your discovery. I hope one day we are able to find out who you are.

You were so young and I’m sure your family is looking for you. I never knew you, but I do care about you, young man.

As far as I know, you’ve been cremated so the only ways to find out your true identity are looking at your photos, or if we have your fingerprints or dentals we can use that. It will make it harder but not impossible.

Nobody’s given up on you, sir. Someone’s looking for you. Your mom, your dad, your siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, classmates… heck maybe even your middle school bully probably recognizes you. I promise someone misses you!

I hope you’re enjoying yourself in the afterlife. We do care very deeply about you, we’ve been working diligently these past 27 years. You’re probably looking down and reading this message. I along with many people am trying my best to help get you back home.

So, happy 4th of July and happy angel day and discovery anniversary. Enjoy the fireworks, the beach, and the barbecue.

Enjoy the afterlife and hopefully we will know who you are, your family can have answers, and you can rest peacefully. In 1984, a girl about your age was also found on July 4th but she was found in Bowling Green, KY. May the two of you rest peacefully and Imm sure you two are best friends in heaven.

I wish you peace and comfort in the afterlife and may God bless you always. You may be unknown to us, but you’re certainly missed and known to someone.

I wonder if he was ever reported missing tbh, or age estimate is wrong. 5’10”-6’0” seems pretty dang tall for an early to mid teen like they estimated, he could be on the older end of the age range or slightly older like 18-19, or of course, yes sometimes people his age can be that size, I’ve seen a 6’5” 13 year old (although his dad was like 6’8” so I’m not surprised, mom was easily over six feet tall too).

The reason I wonder if he was ever reported missing is because if he was incorrectly aged and put down as slightly younger, especially if he was about 18-20, they could have not thought much of it, or not reported him missing if he didn’t have much or any contact, or because he has the right as an adult. But if he is a young boy, and he wasn’t reported missing, it leads me to believe maybe a frequent runaway, complicated family situation, etc. And the reason I think he may have been slightly older is the fact he’s estimated 5’10”-6’0” which is on the taller side for an adult man, although him being a teenage boy, he could just be tall for his age, as I said, I have seen preteens and teens of that size, and he has a tattoo, although someone could have given it to him, I gave myself a couple in my early teens, but that’s unlikely as usually people don’t have the tools to, and would usually refuse on a younger kid, so it could be he got it done professionally and was 18 or slightly older, like college age with a babyface, or he was in fact a young teen as stated, but gave himself the tattoo or it was given to him by a willing participant, and I still can see his original age range, he does look like a teen, I wouldn’t go as far as 12, but maybe 14-19, and with the tall yet quite thin build, he could be in that awkward, still-growing-into-my-body phase. We all had it, I was at that point at about 13, I had just turned 13, I was 4’9” and only like 75 pounds, but by almost 14 was 5’0” and 95-100-ish pounds.

So it could be that, or he was slightly older, maybe never reported missing or he was reported as a runaway, and as we know, NamUs doesn’t show pictures of runaways.
