Think they were able to trace all but a few of the boxes. That list would probably be somewhere in the back of the room collecting dust in the police department, not something that you would be able to find on line I am guessing.

Ok, so I know this is way out there in left field somewhere, I was thinking about the handkerchief, the one that was found near the box. It had the letter "C" on it. Only the letter "C". At some point there was a boy that went to the police station and gave his allowance money to the police so that the boy in the box could have a nice funeral like his dad had. (Dad died in train accident). This boy's last name started with the letter "C". It made me wonder if the boy had some idea who the boy in the box was? Like I said thought are in left field somewhere but I guess anything is possible at this point.

If I may please say.The handkerchief I believe had the letter G on it.The boys name you are talking about was Patrick Gibson and I agree with you and had the same feeling he knew something too.But maybe not.Just a strange feeling I had.I did look into the name Gibson after that and found this awhile back.Probabably doesn't mean anything.I tried finding out and turning this in as a lead. But I never knew if it was ever turned in.I am very curious if anyone knows more on the( " Twins " ) and if there ever were twins and if they were adopted out.It might not be related to Patrick Gibson though. But you never know.I am very interested in those twins though.

Article mentioning Patrick Gibson

You are right it was the letter "G" my mistake thanks for picking that up. I found out that this Gibson boy had a younger brother that died, the brother's name was Michael. It said infant death though so I didn't go any further with the thought. The mother re-married, it's in my notes somewhere. I know I'm grasping at straws.

Your doing great.I'm interested in what you found out about that. Can you please share more on that?Infant death? Died at birth? how old?

Sorry I don't have a link for this, my notes are not organized but I have a Ruth Gibson, who was Patrick mother, Patrick was 11 at that time. She later married and her last name then became Gregg. Patrick's father was a Reading Railroad Engineer who died in July of 1957 in a train crash. Patrick was born in 1946. I am pretty sure I read about Michael, infant death in her obit. I will try to find it again.

I'm still reading everything again and looking into who this little boy can be.This was an early lead. I don't really see it mentioned any where. It is in the newspaper articles early on.Does anyone know anything about who this woman and child was ?They should probably look into this again too.If any one finds out I would please like to know. What was the story with them?It is not mentioned a lot.Only in a brief news paper article.Maybe they should do DNA testing for a possible match with that boy too to see if he is the boy in the box.Did they ever check footprints or DNA with that boy?

QUERY FROM TRENTON

From Trenton the detective bureau received a query from State Police Capt. D. C. Borghard, who was checking the Philadelphia victim against descriptions of another child who vanished, also with his mother, on Jan. 26 from a nearby community. As in the case of the Rhode Island child, the weight of the missing boy was said to be greater than that of the child here.

The little boy in the box was found in a box that had originally held a baby bassinet. The bassinet was bought in upper Darby.I have looked very hard for awhile now for orphanages in Philadelphia County that took in babies and older children. The only one I can find so far is the Lutheran home for orphans and aged on German town ave. They took children from 0-20.Does any one know more on that orphanage or what their blankets looked like?

They had a baby home auxiliary as of 1957.Scroll over to the right on the link.

Does anyone know what's going on on This boy in the box's case now.Leads followed ect...Can anyone find out.I would very much like to know..

I feel like every UIP deserves isotope testing done on them. I do not know why they don't all get it. Maybe cost? But surely if they are unidentified for 20-30 years money could be set aside for them!

The Historic Society of Pennsylvania is a good place to start. I am a member and have to renew my passport so I'll be in Philadelphia within the next two weeks. I'd be happy to inquire at the HSP when I'm there. One visit won't do though. It helps to sit down, make friends and just listen to what archivists and security personnel (older ones) remember. They are a wealth of information.

Here are the overall search results (results on the far left side of the web page).

Cheers,

Chantal
