PA PA - Philadelphia, Female Skeletal Remains in Suitcase, Jul'18

An investigation is underway after human remains were found in a suitcase in Southwest Philadelphia Tuesday afternoon.

A passerby made the grisly discovery around 4:15 p.m. on the 2700 block of Ruby Terrace.

Detectives say a manager and housing police at a nearby housing development noticed a strong odor and saw maggots coming from a 2 feet by 2 feet suitcase. They then discovered the remains of an unidentified woman inside.

Housing authority police made the discovery after neighbors complained of an odor coming from a dumpster.

Philadelphia Police Lt. John Walker said it appears to be the partially decomposed body of a woman and the body appears to be intact.

Maggots were found on the suitcase.

Police said trash pickup was Monday so they think the suitcase was left there.

She was last seen on Monday, May 21th, 2018, on the 2700 block of Winton Terrace.

The Unidentified Remains were found about 3 miles from where she was last seen: Google Maps

I don't think it is likely to be her, however. She is somewhat tall and big, so I'm not sure she would fit in a suitcase (The body was said to be intact).

its been a few months but I don't see where she has been located on that particular site. she would fit in that size suitcase.

I don’t know. There are suitcases and there are big suitcaes. And it’s no hard case suitcase, so I guess with some force, anything is possible. After seeing the body bag pictures, I thought this is not a small woman.

You may be right, I think they wrapped up the entire suitcase several times with a tarp. Here is one that shows the suitsace by the dumpster before they covered it:

This is probably a remote possibility...but this missing person is only a little under 7 hours from where this body was found and she is probably small enough to fit in a 2 ft x 2 ft suitcase.

Another body found today -- article has some information about this case as well.

Looks like this body in the plastic (tarpaulin) that was found in a Spring Garden Row House was that of a Male.
So that's 2 Males and one Female in 3 days. I wonder how many miles apart each were from each other?

Apparently "skeletonized" doesn't necessarily mean nothing but bones. It can mean just that bones were showing. Per my cop friend, anyway. With maggots and flies calling attention to the suitcase, it's unlikely she was nothing but bones.
