Thank you carbuff for the map! Yes I read that too. The guy in plastic was in an apartment but no other info like IF apartment was vacant or anything.

The article in my last post did have a little bit about the apartment. Apparently it's being renovated but somebody is living there. It wasn't clear if somebody was SUPPOSED to be living there, and it mentions drug paraphernalia, so that one's probably an overdose. But it could still be related.

I would have thought that we would have heard of an update on this by now...

Probably nothing for another few weeks until the medical examiner gets lab results back. Things like tox screen usually take at least 6-8 weeks depending on location and backlog.

It's seems to me that they are not 100% sure this UID is a female. In another article about a body found the next day, they state :

Philadelphia police homicide detectives are investigating the discovery of two bodies in separate parts of the city in the last two days.

A man’s body was found Wednesday wrapped in plastic in a rowhouse in Philadelphia’s Spring Garden neighborhood.

A day earlier, partly skeletonized remains were found in a suitcase next to a dumpster at the Bartram Village housing project in Southwest Philadelphia. Although preliminary reports suggested the body was that of a woman, Capt. John Ryan, commander of the Homicide Unit, said Wednesday that he could not confirm the victim’s age, race, or gender.

Day after discovery of body in suitcase in SW Philly, a body is found wrapped in plastic in Spring Garden

I was surprised they made a pronouncement on the sex so soon after discovery--it's not the usual practice. This sounds more like what I would have expected.

NBC10 is reporting a male body found on I-95 as they remind us this makes 3 bodies in 2 days.
Has anybody heard anything moreon this body?

Did they ever mention hair color or if the body had clothing? I have not found any info. I wonder why they can't tell what the body is? Wouldn't they be able to get DNA? I don't want to sound stupid but Iam confused

It's not that they can't tell, it's that in most cases, the medical examiner has to make the determination. LE on the scene might make a guess, as in this case, but it's just a guess and it still has to be confirmed. It's only been a couple of weeks so the DNA probably isn't back yet. And it depends on the jurisdiction whether the ME would make an announcement, or they'd just forward the information back to the LE agency. In a case like this where there's the likelihood of a crime, it's quite likely to go back to LE first and that will slow things still further.

I wouldn't expect to hear anything until next week at the earliest and more likely the end of August or beginning of September.

You would think there would be a delete post option. Oh well.

I’m not sure why, but I was under the impression that the body in the suitcase was fairly intact. This is why I wondered why it was taking so long.

ID'ing someone can go on for years. I'll be just happy if we hear of a name this side of Christmas.

I lost track of this UID a little. I found an updated article on the July 18'th one, dated Jan 30, 2019.
Woman's decomposing body found in suitcase at Philly neighborhood dumpster

The partially decomposed body of a black woman of an undetermined age was found, said Philadelphia Police Lt. John Walker.

Later they dismiss this stating "Investigators initially described the body that of a black woman but homicide detectives say because of the state of decomposition they wait They'll wait for an official report from the Medical Examiner's Office before making conclusions".

Police Investigating As Residents React To Body Stuffed Inside Suitcase Found In Southwest Philadelphia

I couldn't find a Namus file or other updates, so we still there we we left off.

Police in Philadelphia locate third suspicious body, experts say serial killer » Your Content

The first body <in suitcase> was located Tuesday afternoon on the 2700 block of Ruby Terrace at the Bartram Village housing development.

According to police, a manager and housing police officer noticed a strong odor and saw maggots coming from a 2-foot-by-2-foot suitcase. Minutes later, they discovered the remains of an unidentified woman inside, completely dismembered.

I wonder if a head was still there, so they can make a recon.

I do find it curious that she isn't in NamUs. Philly is usually really good at adding their cases. Could be she's been ID'd but her name not released for either investigative reasons or her family didn't want her name publicized. Or is she in NamUs, not ID'd but her case not viewable to the public? Just odd that after the first flurry of news articles, there's been nothing but crickets.

No further reference to this case in MSM, either about it being solved or being a cold case. Also still not in Namus.
