I looked and could not find a thread for this cute girl. Mods, please combine if there is one. Her age may need to be changed as I have seen both 12 and 13.

Pa. Teenager, 13, Found Fatally Shot 6 Months After Going Missing: 'She Didn't Deserve This'

Police had been searching for Alezauna Carter since October when they found her fatally shot in a North Philadelphia apartment on April 18.

Officers responded to a radio call of a person with a gun, gunshots, and a person shot around 10:58 p.m. in the 1500 block of Overington Street, according to the Philadelphia Police Department.

i think she was 12 when she ran away but since turned 13. Very sad, so young.

I see some stubs of where the original story was filed and she was initially reported as being 14

Missing Juvenile – Alezauna Carter – From the 12th District - Opera News

Authorities initially described her unidentified body as having belonged to a woman in her 20s. May have somewhat delayed identification which I'm inclined to guess was based on fingerprints given the time frame and circumstances.

I am usually pretty harsh on these small oversights by police but in reviewing https://mobile.twitter.com/PhillyPolice to look for the actual missing announcement, to say they're busy is an understatement. Not just the incredible amount of crime and missing persons that're instantly obvious but at the time of Libby's disappearance there were daily civic unrest level reports and multiple officers were in ICU dying of Covid. What a miserable time.

Yup. Welcome to Philly. God Bless these police officers.

This baby girl is from South Philly winds up murdered in Frankford. Lord knows what she endured in those six months.

Jesus, she was a baby! I see kids out there young but guess I refuse to believe they are that young.

This totally s***s.

Unless I missed something, there isn't much mentioned about the person or persons renting this apartment. Surely they knew this was a young child. And know the man who shot her.

In Frankford? There's a real good chance they don't. Could be squatters. Or somebody in New York owns it and only cares about the rent.

I'll check if I can find the correct addy. It's a cesspool down there.

JMO - calling a place where thousands of people live (or just 1 person for that matter) a "cesspool" dehumanizes the people that live there and is completely uncalled for.

What?! What is wrong with PA? Before I moved to the area, I noticed that most of the "weird news" featured in my New England paper were from PA. Now, I notice that I learn about missing women (usually women, and so often western PA/PA that is culturally Appalachia) and crimes from here - not the local news.

Respectfully understand your opinion. I in no way am disparaging the people stuck living there or who choose to do so because they have no mortgage. Several of them family friends.

Plenty of wonderful people work at the hospital there. In walking distance. They are stellar. However they want out so they don't need an escort to get to work.

Frankford is so rich with history. Can you visit historical sites there? No. Gorgeous old Victorian homes. Tight knit Parochial parishes all gone.

Some of the girls who work the Ave "stay" there. The tricks not so much. The young boys shooting eachother "stay there". The felon who murdered a SWAT officer way too recent "stayed" in Frankford. Drug dealing. People going off on a combo of fentanyl and meth while a granny waits for a bus at a major transportation hub? Dodging human feces while getting on the El?

That's a cesspool. The people that have to live there know it. I'm the last person to dehumanizing anyone. I've been there. It is what it is.

The saddest part I wasted time when this is about a child shot in the mouth. Dead.

I am local and have been to Frankford many times myself which is why I thought it was worth saying something here. Frankford is a beautiful place, a heart breaking place, a scary place, a place where plenty of terrible things happen. I don't think it's good to sugarcoat what it's like there. It sounds like we agree on all that.

I also think the language we use to describe places like this is important and I think words like cesspool are dehumanizing especially on a public forum which robs words of nuance.

Agree language is powerful.

My CCP English 101 escaped me. I call it as it is in my own experience. Perhaps that is wrong.

Bottom line this child is murdered, and I know the decent people of Frankford are sickened.

Thank you. Peace. There is good and kindness everywhere. I'll pay mind to my language here on in.

Test will be tomorrow at Bridge or at Aarott which to me is still Margaret. Lol it's all good. Well unless you're a preteen shot in the face.

Again I respect you. I shall watch my language. We are all in the same place. Hoping to find who the h*ll shot a child in the mouth.

13-year-old girl missing for 6 months, shot in the mouth (in-24.com)
Luis Rodriguez, 25, was seen by a witness fleeing the crime scene, yelling: “I killed her, I shot her in the neck”. This same witness claimed that the suspect then bragged about having killed the victim. But it took long months for the police to get their hands on this man who had been captured by CCTV footage right after the murder.

According to the grandfather of young Alezuana Carter, she would have run away with friends on the day of her disappearance. It took almost two weeks for the police to identify him and notify his family. “There is nothing that prepares you for such a thing. We all live in South Philly, I have no idea how she ended up there, ”he said last May.
