Wow, I was just watching the 48 hours episode last night and then saw that Jetter was arrested.

Raise your hand if you’d be surprised if Jeter is found dead by “suicide” in his cell. That place is a cesspool of criminality and corruption. I’m afraid this case will never be solved.

Going to get ice cream again?
OMG! That was my exact thought when I read the article. They must all eat a lot of ice cream up there.

As slaying of Aliquippa teacher hits 2-year mark, DA says probe in 'good place'

June 1, 2020

<snip>

Despite the sometimes bizarre twists and turns of the case, Mr. Lozier said the investigation is in a “good place” — or at least was before the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We think we know what happened that night,” Mr. Lozier said recently. “We want to make sure that before we file charges, that we can prove beyond a reasonable doubt what happened.”

The investigation was moving along, Mr. Lozier said, and then the pandemic interrupted. Investigators from different agencies who would gather in person to discuss the case could no longer do so, and an online meeting wasn’t a sufficient replacement, according to Mr. Lozier.

From the link:

The ATF has also supplied evidence tracking [Sheldon Jeter's] movements the night of the murder from GPS signals and dozens of surveillance cameras around town, which sources say put him close to the murder scene around that time.

Santicola [Jetter's attorney] says that does not prove guilt.

“The fact that he may or may not have been close is a question, sure. But it’s not indicative of a direct answer that he did it,” Santicola told KDKA.

It's been so long I may be getting cases mixed up, but I thought SJ's alibi was he was at home playing video games online.

[...]

On Thursday, police took a PlayStation and some notebooks because Jeter told them he was playing video games and writing rap lyrics the night of the murder.

thinking of Rachael and her mom today

Seems the police department is casting shade in Sheldon Jeter's direction may be to take the heat off of them. Someone at the police department leaked that report causing Rachael to lose her job. Reading through all the comments from the various Beaver Countian articles, you get the definite feeling there was bad blood between Rachael and the Aliquippa police department. Her ex-fiancé also appears to have close connections to the police department. Very odd text messages from the juvenile girl friend who dropped her off minutes before being executed.
Also the young girl she had in her car her dad was a Police Seargeant or Police chief. I thought it was weird that her mom called her to tell her to come home and knew that Rachael had been shot within 5 minutes of it happening. Meaning her husband who was high up in the Police department knew about the shooting within 5 minutes. To me, that's odd.

Yes, all of those coincidences are very odd.

Betty, I agree. I just heard about this case today. So many odd connections to LE in this case. MOO

Jeter is right where he belongs.

I'm not convinced. Who shoots somebody and puts the smoking gun right back under his mattress? Seems a little too convenient to me. MOO

So many questions indeed...! I've just watched the 48 hours episode in the UK and I don't understand why the young girl (Lauren Watkins, daughter of a Police Officer, 17 at the time) that Rachael went to get ice cream with, sent her a text whist both in the same car just before she was about to drop Rachael off at her house, saying something like 'wait or walk around for a few minutes and I'll come back and get you'? She did say that one of the 'half brothers' of Jeter was also in the car and she sent it because she wanted to get rid of him and then come back for Rachael, but then she apparently waited for her to get to her front door before driving off, then didn't hear gunshots nor see anything? It seems that her words/statement of those last few moments have just been given the 'OK' ...?! She was one of the last people to see her alive! Also, didn't she get shot at the start of her driveway nearest the road? Lauren said she drove off when Rachael got to her front door (or side door)? It all sounds a bit fishy to me... Thoughts and prayers to her family and friends x
I have now seen this case 2x and I am going off of your post: I am very very suspicious of that young girl texting Rachel in the same car and then dropped Rachel off at her house. The young girl said Rachel was at her front door when she left but Rachel was shot at the end of the drive way so I don't believe Rachel ever got to her door. I am wondering if this girl was asked by Jeter to get Rachel to go to her home and drop her off at the driveway - he may have said he just wanted to talk to Rachel- thereby setting Rachel up--- for murder. I think he did it- he killed once already- after the first one, the second murder would not be that much of a big deal. That is just my 2 cents. Rachel was extremely beautiful but kind of neurotic I think. Frank IMO is cold as ice- I imagine he did not give Rachel what she wanted emotionally- probably frustrating for her all those years. I also think Rachel's mother interfered too much in her daughter's life--- JMO-- I hope this case is solved.
