I have never heard the rumor.

While RFG did not have that reputation, he did have a reputation as a "ladies man." The thought in that first weekend was that he had met Petito, based on the description of the "mystery woman." It wasn't her, but the thought that RFG could have been with a woman was there.

There was an ADA, one of RFG's hires, who resigned as a result of a "sexting" scandal with a defendant's girlfriend in late 2008. It made the papers and they called in the AG to investigate.

Now, that could explain a clandestine meeting and why there was no record of it.

But not what was on the laptop as he had not been using it at work. How does the timeline align with regard to the sexting scandal and the search for information on how to destroy a hard drive?

The post or posts were made when Ray's case was a Featured Case on WS. There is a possibility that some of the threads did not survive.

Happy to see you back from China. :)

The sexting scandal happened after RFG disappeared, 2008. It did involve someone that was an ADA who had been in the office (for a while) when RFG disappeared.

Except for one closed thread, the all have.

I do not remember such a reference. Do you know which thread?

I'm happy to be back from China.... :D

Was that "someone that was an ADA" female?

No. Well not the one that was caught.

BTW: You might wish to check out the Susan Bachman missing persons thread, just to hear about the use of S & R dogs.

Well, you were here too, LOL. Don't you remember?
I cannot be blamed for remembering a detail but not being able to tell which part of the Featured Case file it was in. However, IMO, it was not stated as idle speculation. There WAS a case named and the tie to the young woman was very clear- cut.

Maybe a WS moderator can help you find the exact folder and posts which were made related to this unknown person, who at first was said to be a young woman that Ray was trying to help build a better life. However, I know DAs, but didn't at the time, and they don't help anyone have a better life except when they put away the bad people in court.
As the posting progressed, people posted that she was not just a former defendant. That there was something personal involved. Parts of this are SO clear to me.
I can't believe you don't remember some of it. Photographic memory and all that. :)

The only one I remember was Ivy Butterworth's "blonde," but that wasn't thought to be someone case connected. Further, it probably wasn't RFG. :)

:floorlaugh: OMG, I wonder where our partner in hilarity, Lord Chatterly. is these days? You and he were really into that mystery blonde Butterworth. You know, I've always wondered why you have had " blonde on the brain". Is there any chance it came from the mostly forgotten and deleted Featured Case months?

AND, you don't ever forget things. I think you will remember this in time... because I do, and I know my life is kinda breezy//:happydance:

I was trying to:

1. Confirm it.

2. When it wasn't confirmed, through water on it.

:)

That was the only one I remember.

It was early December 2011, because I made comments about my Christmas Letter and trying to write a blog about it on the same day. :)

Edit: Last week of November to the first week of December 2011. I did a blog on it 12/7/11. She reported when Dateline showed up.

ADA Steve Sloane charged with seven felonies, involving the possession with intent to deliver two ounces of marijuana and 20 Hydrocodone pills for starters...

Second, the fact that Freeh never interviewed Sloane. Seeing how Sloane was both a professional and personal associate of RG and may have provided some insight. And on top of it all... Karen Arnold refused to speak to Freeh.

Something stinks about all this as it relates to victim 6 IMHO.

That was mentioned when it happened, both here and in the Sandusky forum. I discussed it in a blog in mid October 2012. :)

He plead guilty about a year ago, and was sentenced to (that should be in the "The Investigation Part 21," when I get around to writing it):

1. Probation (6-7 years).

2. A $200.00 fine. Yes, 1/500 of his bail.

3. Loss of law license while on probation.

It was also noted, contemporaneously, that Arnold declined to talk. It is mentioned, specifically, in the Thornburgh Report that Arnold was not interviewed. I think it was a PR mistake for her not to, but she was removed within the first week, so I really don't think she could add that much.

Apparently, Freeh never talked to Sloane. I think that was a mistake on Freeh's part. If I wanted to know anything about RFG, officially or personally, in 1998, Sloane would be first on the list.

I do agree regarding Victim 6/1998. I expect more to come out.

Looks to me like Sloane may have given something to get something.. I don't know for sure, but I can tell you that the first time I read his fine, I thought it was $200,000.00. As in- the price of a modest house. In keeping with what he did at a FREAKING LAW FIRM.
HE SOLD POT TO PEOPLE AT HIS LAW FIRM!!!

Now, I ask you- do you want a pothead lawyer representing you in either a civil or criminal case?
Sloane had something to give up. It's not just his law license on " suspension" either. I've thought from the beginning that he got off way too light and that he probably gave up something- some sort of info- on Gricar that we don't have. I which could be almost anything as we have almost nothing).
I don't mean dirt on Gricar, I mean- what happened when and where and how. If anyone knows, Sloane knows.
And please don't protect him to me, because I know he is or was an addict and a user and a man who had a lot and lost it due to his own stupidity. His back injury was 13-14 years ago or more. He would have either been at maximum rehab. potential or dead long before he started dealing drugs ( that we know the dates of his dealing).

I STRONGLY suspect it was about 1998. He was charged in early October and Spanier was charged on 11/1/12.

And Fran Ganter, who was in the 10/13/98 meeting, resigned in late February of 2013. He had 40+ years of service and gave a one day notice. He also backed out of an interview with the Altoona Mirror.

Sloane was overcharged. 20 tablets and two ounces of pot does not exactly put him on par with a Mexican drug cartel.

The AG's Office has him right where they want him. Maybe something else happened over the late summer to the early fall, between Freeh and October.

And, for the record, he was still recuperating in 2005 and had about a 50% attendance record under the last year or two of Madeira's term (2008-09).

In my conversations with him, he was always upfront and honest. I did not know about the drugs, however.

I'll add one other point.

In late November 2013, the RFG case was turned over to the PSP. It wasn't announced for several months.

The PSP is one of the investigative agencies in the Penn State case.
