Wow, I just watched Haunting Evidence regarding Ray Gricar. I was always 50/50 foul play or walkaway with the family alerted after a certain time.

I've never thought it would make sense for RFG to tell the family. If no body turns up, his daughter would have to go to court to petition to have him declared dead (which they could do now). She would have to say that she's never heard from him, under oath. If caught, that is a criminal act and she could go to jail. I'd expect an alive RFG not to put his daughter (or girlfriend or nephews) in that position.

Now, I believe it is foul play. I have always been open minded to the paranormal. The only thing that bothers me is they have yet to find his body even with the leads given. Considering the way this case has been handled which is very strange to me did they investigate that shipping business? They should search for blood in every bay area!

Now I understand the posts from certain other posters. What the heck is going on. eek: JMO

I'm not a big fan of that psychic. They did go to those areas with a cadaver dog, IIRC, and found nothing.

I was one of the souls who have long thought Mr. Gricar committed suicide. However -- after learning that he didn't seem to have a lot of money in his accounts -- or at least not as much as they thought he should-- I'm kind of thinking that yeah -- with his intellect and personality, he could easily go someplace else and start a new life. Why not? He was still relatively young and in good health, and maybe he wanted to spend the rest of his life fulfilling his real dreams -- whatever they may be. That's his right, but I guess some folks don't want to deal with what it takes to make these decisions "above board." We've seen it happen in several cases -- and I wonder how often these disappearances happen and we just don't hear about it. He sounds like a meticulous man -- he could have planned this for a while and then carried his plan out as smooth as silk -- so innocently -- "going for a ride to visit some antique stores in Lewisburg, won't be back in time to feed the dog" perhaps equals -- at long last, I'm outta here. I have no idea if that happened, but -- the more I think about it, I can see it.

First Phantom, please stay.

I'd give it 51% for voluntary departure, but still a 40% chance of murder.

Did you know that on 4-14-2005 Ray went to Raystown PA Lake? Here are 2 radiology places that the centre county courts use for getting evidence.

Hi CB,

All the records on the case were at Giesinger (sp) Medical Center in Danville; that is where Baby Lucas was treated and died. By road, to the closest spot where RFG could have been, was over 120 miles from Giesinger.

The upshot is, that the quickest way to get from Danville to the lake is literally right past Bellefonte.

In any event, RFG was seen at the lake, and I've had confirmation it was at the lake, not in the general area. Why would he be meeting someone in a rural area, especially a professional, to discuss a case? Why would he claim it was a partial day off and not tell his staff?

You link doesn't work, but here is the description of the case, from the defense side: http://www.raynesmccarty.com/newsev...ther-being-falsely-accused-in-sons-death.html

I'll take this back; it is between 90 and 100 miles. I found a short cut. :)

JJ,

I was reading the CDT and noticed you stated something to the effect that the police checked you out and you believed they should have. Do I have that right? Why?

JJ,

Yes, they checked me out, I do know one thing in the file, my photo.

I tended to make some logical points and seemed to have "inside information." In reality, at the time I Googled most of it (and posted the links). Some of was that I had experience in local government (though not in Centre County) and I was familiar with the area (I went to Penn State).

I was also checked out by the CDT reporter, Pete Bosak. Mr. Bosak also asked where I was on 4/15/05 (thinking I might have been the helper). He had a copy of my archived posting record for that day within 20 minutes of that request.

Mr. Buehner also ran a make on me to check for outstanding warrants, et c, though not in depth.

I told Tony Gricar who I was two weeks after I started posting, and had my complete permission to give that information to LE.

The general verdict has been "pristine."

Now, all that said, I think that it was prudent to check me out. I could have been Mr. Gricar, and there were suggestions on-line that I was. I'm not.

JJ, Thank you for being upfront. That will be my only personal question.

I got checked out once too for helping on a case. It was wierd -- suddenly I felt they were looking at me as a potential insider -- which I was anything but. It was a bit unnerving. Anyway, I had no idea they checked you out, J.J., but, since you are so knowledgeable about Mr. Gricar's case, I guess it makes sense.

LOL, thanks for your "please stay" comment. I don't have it in me to go somewhere to start anew, but I am surprised at how many people do -- and with apparent ease. I've never been that unhappy, but I guess it's no surprise that so many are --and are desperate enough to just walk away. Sounds like Ray could have fit that profile. ?

I have absolutely no problem with it, and I think the police, et al., should very good judgment in doing so.

Thanks for staying Phantom. I have already posted that I think it is 51% voluntary departure. That means there is a 49% it wasn't, and that is just too bloody high.

Was wondering if you ever (you probably did) considered the idea that Mr. Gricar may have been "corresponding" with someone online -- and that he may have been set up for robbery and murder? You know, the scenario in which an attractive female wants to me with him, he shows up at a designated spot, and then meets with foul play. This has been happening with people on Craigslist and other sites where you can meet strangers who seem like they're nice but they're not.

Not apparently from his home desktop or office computer. The laptop is a different story, though he had a longstanding interest in destroying the data on it. He was doing computer searches on destroying the hard drive within 30 days of vanishing.

The phone also creates problems. At the time the Courthouse has a central number, and the calls were routed to the appropriate office. If a long distance call came in, for example, nobody could tell to what office it went to.

The best murder scenario I have is that he met someone, a woman and spent the weekend with her. Then something happened. That is most of the 40% chance of foul play.

It would explain everything, except for the the Fenton sighting (3:00 PM on 4/15/05, in Bellefonte), and the Southfield sighting (5/27/05, Southfield, MI). I don't give either more than a 50% chance of being accurate.

Thanks, I was just going to post that and you beat me to it. The show is called Disappeared and it's 9:00 EST. I DVRd the Leah Roberts episode and saw they would feature Ray Gricar next week.

If you haven't seen the promo for Operation ID Disappeared featuring the Gricar case, don't expect too much. Wrong vehicle & DZ interviewed . . . need I say more???

Actually DZ know a great deal about the initial investigation. We might see some new information coming from him.

Who does online searches to find out how to destroy their hard drive, calls their significant other to tell them they need to feed the dog because they may not be there to do it, then decides to drive far away to look at antiques -- in my opinion, someone who has been planning to get out of dodge for a while, and who has been carefully setting up the "escape." I have a funny feeling this is a man who kept many things hidden inside, and did not want to share those thoughts and feelings with others. He had his "public" side, and his "real" side -- and maybe, the "real side" said, "I'm sick of living like this, I'm getting older, so I may as well go for it now while I'm young enough and healthy enough." Mr. Gricar is a smart, good looking, (probably charming?) man -- I imagine he could make good for himself just about anywhere. So why stay in Bellefonte when there could be other more interesting places for him to be. And as many others before him have done, he may have decided it was better to just roll on down the highway rather than face all the questions and emotions from friends/family/etc. Once he made the decision to split, he may not have felt like handling all the ensuing pleas to stay, etc. Maybe he just wanted out, and rather than worrying about the reactions of those he was going to leave behind, all he felt was relief. Just trying to get inside his mind and follow what he may have been thinking in the years/months leading up to his disappearance.

I totally agree. I have never thought he met w/ foul play. I think he planned this and may have had some help.
