I just saw a very disturbing biography on John Dupont of Philadelphia.. His obsession with your wrestlers.. His private facilities for the young men... And of course, his enormous fortune..
And a coach named Shultz who was murdered in 1998.

Any chance that Dupont was involved with Sandusky in any way?

I hate to say it, but it seems like NAMBLA might as well be headquartered in PA. Jeez.

I'd be very surprised if there is a connection. I'm not aware of any evidence linking duPont to children or young adolescents in a sexual way. His primary interests were wrestling, and hoity-toit pursuits such as birds, stamps, etc. Being from the eastern part of the state, he, to the best of my knowledge, had no connection to the Second Mile, or anything PSU-related. While I cannot rule out a Sandusky connection, I just don't see any common ground. He was also bouncing between prisons and a forensic unit in a State Hospital during the times when Sandusky was victimizing individuals. His mental health status was subject to debate. He was found GBMI. Working in the mental health field, a former co-worker said they had spoken with someone from the forensic unit at the time who claimed he seemed to have the ability to be quite lucid when he chose to. He did improve while there, but as he died in prison the other year, I don't suppose there's much to follow in the way of potential leads.

There is a University Police file, reported at around 100 pages. There is no file in the DA's Office on what RFG did. Madeira said that it was not unusual not to have a file at the DA's Office.

I'm troubled by the Medeira/Sandusky connection.

How so? He turned it over to the AG and wasn't involved with any of the investigations.

Turning it over was right; it gave me one chance to say something nice about him. :)

True, he seems to have done the right thing. I guess it just makes me uneasy knowing he had taken over as DA for the man who chose not to go after Sandusky. Would he have revisited the case if there wasn't a connection?? I have read where he says there really isn't a relationship between him and Sandusky, so I guess I shouldn't be as troubled by the connection. It is just one odd angle to the whole odd situation.

DZ was not involved. Det. Schreffler felt that there was enough evidence to file on some charges; he was also the one who set up the "sting," with RFG's permission. The retired chief in Selinsgrove said the same thing you did about a grand jury. http://dailyitem.com/0111_letters/x1713520916/Missed-chances/print I've said the same thing before.

I'd still saw RFG was on the "up and up," at least for now, and a DA does have the discretion not to charge. This was, at least, colossally bad judgment on RFG's part, but that does not imply any impropriety. I will say it was not typical and completely anomalous.

I was hoping that RFG maybe just missed a newly adopted statute, but Det. Schreffler comments were damning to that theory.

I honestly don't think they know.

So thats three of us that think alike. Maybe it is true that great minds "do" think alike. j/k:blushing:

While Victim 6 might not have been "raped", Mr. Gricar could have prevented Sandusky from having so many more victims, many that we will NEVER hear about. It doesn't make sense to me why he went through the effort of a "sting" and then would turn his head. I would hope that Mr. Gricar was much up to date on the laws, and not knowing "new" law-wouldn't be a reason for him NOT to proceed on Sandusky.

I am going to go and research more on the weeks prior to his vanishing, and see if it leads me to the "monster." Is miss J K Arnold still posting about Mr. Gricar or has she stopped?

I am also going to try and find what the "psychic" said about Mr. Gricar that was "spot on." If she is spot on -that would make her REALLY good (and much better than I am with my intuitions ) :)

Hello fellow Sleuths! I am sure you all have seen me lurking here and reading all of your wonderful discussion on Ray's disappearance. I haven't posted because I haven't felt well enough informed about the circumstances of his disappearance to contribute. I am very impressed with the quality discussion on this thread!

I have thought and thought about what would compell me to disappear myself and leave my loved ones behind...other than the great theories that have been presented already.

My personal reason would be if I learned that I had a terminal illness. I am sure that Ray had health insurance but even the co-pay/deductible can rack up exhorbitant costs for which family members are left responsible when someome passes then when the medical bills are paid the family is left with nothing.

Maybe he didn't wish to leave LG with such a burden. He put the mini cooper in p's name and knew that Lara would be the beneficiary to his retirement once he was officially declared dead. It sounds to me like he took care of biz before he disappeared.

Perhaps that is why he wanted the hard drive destroyed if he had made such arrangements on the laptop to disappear or leave the country. Leave no trail behind.

RG's fatigue before his disappearance causes me to wonder about his health.

(The reason that I question this is due to my own health's decline the past several years. The fatigue was when I first began to realize that something was just not right.)

I wondered if this theory has been discussed in the past.

It came to MTM from a complaint, so he didn't go after it. When he got it, he forwarded the case to AG, because of a legitimate conflict of interest. He did not know about RFG's involvement until it was released.

He approved of LE doing it, but didn't develop the plan.

The statute was not on-line at the time and may not even have been delivered and filed. It had just been signed by the governor 5 months before. I know that they have 107 volumes of statute now; it's about a page in 107 full sized books.

She's commented on a few things in the CDT; I don't keep track of her. I'll say this for her, from her posts, she cares very deeply about crimes against children. He last few posts I agreed with.

LE checked his medical records, with a court order, and said that they found nothing.

Thanks J. J. ! I appreciate the info.

I am now back to square one thinking whatever happened to RG occurred due to nefarious circumstances:/

Is it known how much follow-up LE did as it relates to the information provided by the psychic??

They used cadaver dogs: Ray Gricar, missing D.A. from Pennsylvania - Crimeshots© True Crime Forums

It turned up nothing.

At the same site, you will see that another hard drive had been found.

Interesting. She seems confident, but no body was found. I suppose if her statements came out prior to the search, the people responsible could have had time to move the body, but I believe those dogs probably still could have picked up some kind of scent, unless they really modified the site so significantly that a scent wouldn't have survived. I wonder if she's had any additional communication with LE since the initial ones.

I don't think it came out. And, in theory, the dog should have found a scent. We are not talking about a lot of time to modify the site, either.

I'm not a fan of that particular psychic.

No, mercifully. Dupont had severe mental issues.

IMO, pedophiles and child sex abusers also have mental issues, JJ.
( although not schizophrenia, which Dupont had).

They may. My degree is not in psychology. I just find the acts Sandusky is accused of just monstrous. This is like something out of H. P. Lovecraft.

Yes, Dupont was really gone. I've heard stories about him tooling around the estate in an armored personnel carrier. He was a murderer though, and I don't think he molested children. He was supposedly gay, but not a child molester.

I tried Driving a 16 penny nail through mine; the nail bent. After slamming it on a concrete floor repeatedly (like 20 times), it didn't break.

Lord Chatterly, I think, also looked at it, and we both reached the same conclusion; it is very difficult to destroy a hard drive. There are examples of companies getting data off a drive after it was run over by a bus. :)

Yes, we arrived at the same conclusion, however I had been wrong early on with what I knew. SeekingJana had offered some valuable insight as well. After doing more research from Googling about, I became more aware just how far along technologies had become for adequate erasure for a hard drive.

Thank You, I guess I always donated computers after just wiping files and never gave it much thought.
And, I have a joke about Lord Chatterly...but maybe I should just not go there! :great:

You have come this far, don't let us hang ! Pray tell ! :)
