dmvpenn, so you are saying that danielles family has denied that she was abused by her Ex? What purpose would that serve I wonder?

And I've always thought that someone was in the back seat of the truck when they got in it - its got heavily tinted windows in the back and someone could easily have hidden on the floor, dressed in dark clothing. He could shoot them at a quiet stop light, climb into the front and drive away, to the chop shop. I'm quite certain that South Philly has no dearth of those.

yes. That is what I have been saying. And yes, the cost of this murder for hire could be less then one would imagine. There are many types of gangs besides the mob. I believe, speculation of course that who ever knows what happened and whoever is protecting you know who, is in law enforcement at some level, and is covering up.

I would hope, but doubt that the authorities would be investigating Dawn's friends and family. She sang in bars. What kind of bars? What type of patrons were in these bars? did her ex attend? Were there seedy meth heads in those bars? There are so many places to do investigating reporting. Why isn't Nancy and greta curious about this case, expecially after reclassification from missing to murder for hire... I am DISGUSTED! Just disgusted.

Ya know, with all the crime and missing... I can't expect all the resources to flood to my cousin. And maybe "law and order" has me as naive as one could be. But early on man, why weren't they pounding Daneille's personal path for more clues.

Well, I am a lurker and I do apologize for jumping in, but I am from Philly and live in N.C. now. I have followed this case as well as my family still in Philly. "Chop shops" are prevalent, and a truck can disappear in a matter of minutes. Trust me, my father was one of the biggest car thieves(not proud of that, and he is a law abiding senior citizen now) so I am very aware how quickly a vehicle can be reduced to nothing. Ive seen it myself.....

Agreed. the car no doubt is an ash tray. But hey, come on, wouldn't the chop shop come forward for 100k. They could say, hey man, we didnt know at first this truck was part of a murder, but we do know so .... here is who brought it here. I am thinking for 100k they would have come forward. But what the hell do I know.

dmv taking a break for awhile. this is all burning me out... peace out

Heck no, they wouldnt come forward. There is a strict code of not only silence but fear..Some of these people are so unsavory, and 100K is not worth it to them.... These people threaten you, "we can find you anywhere", etc, threaten the families, KIDS, etc. if they rat. 100K in a chop shop is NOTHING..These places are used for drug running, and other activities, not just cars. There is a massive amount of CASH that runs through these places.. South Philly is no joke..

Maybe I should contine protection .... in case someone comes after me for posting my thoughts here.

Hey Jersey Girl, Christine.... if I go missing....

I am sorry for all that you are going through, and the Petrone family, DMV. I did not mean to be insensitive, I just know from growing up what kind of losers some of these types of people can be. Thankfully, we moved, parents divorced, and I still kept my sanity. Again, I am sorry if I was offensive or too brutal with the truth.--K

no worries. I actually agree with what you said.

Please excuse my laziness, but there are so many pages to look through...

About the running off (or forced off) the road idea - was the area on Route 30, Admiral Wilson Blvd. EAST of the Ben Franklin bridge searched? I was looking at the aerial maps of the area, and there's a Hess gas station not far from the bridge, South of Flanders Ave., surrounded by water (like Florida), with a large wooded area behind it. Maybe they could have stopped there. :waitasec:
If I'm thinking of the right area, there's no way that they would stop there on their own. That's a pretty bad area around there, the kind where you wouldn't stop even in the daytime - (again - if I'm thinking of the right spot you're talking about).

I have to admit that I would be scared too, DMV. I so admire you for speaking up in spite of your fear. You are an amazing representative of your family.

I hope you know that we're always with you in spirit.

I dont' think in philly it would cost alot to talk some crummy meth addict into killing a couple of people.

Nor New Jersey

Yeah, but would a meth addict do a clean enough job to not get caught after all of this time? And even without getting caught - not even a clue to be found after so much time?

Thats what i keep comming back to,sure it wouldnt be hard to find some lowlife or lowlifes to commit this crime and take the vehicle to chop shop for disposal but to get away with it then all parties involved keep quiet with 100k hanging out there?
That just seems implausible.
There are so many things about this tragedy that are utterly perplexing.
So LE 'checked all the water between Philly and New Jersey?
"Nope.Nothin down there!" ....yeah...right...
I dont really understand why this case hasnt gotten more public exposure ive seen alot less intriuging ones get lots more.
I certainly hope the FBI is giving Danielle's circle of aquaintences a close looking at.
This is based on nothing but gut feeling, and Im in No Way implying that Danielle brought any of this on herself by(I want to make this very clear) the people she hung out with but Id be very surprised if this wasnt about her in some way shape or form.
Ive been a casual musician for many years and Ive worked with women singers a time or two in bar bands and they do tend to attract intense and ofttimes weird attention.
But I dont really think this is some stalker thing, it feels like someone she knew with something to gain with her gone.
But then once again if someone just had a thing about Danielle why wait until she's with a big guy like Richard to move on her?
Youd think there would be more opportune times .
I dont know. You could go around in circles forever and Im just thinking out loud.
DMV,I know you were mostly joking, but seriously, while this thing is unsolved you need to be cautious at least.
Be aware of your surroundings ect.
And Im sure you know better then to meet alone with someone just because they might say they have info, ect.
You dont have to be paranoid but careful would be good.

A couple of other things that puzzle me.
If someone just wanted them gone, why not hire some lowlife?
Make it look like a botched car jacking.
Why make them vanish? And the Truck too?
Of course perhaps who ever was responsible didnt make arrangements with a chop shop.
Why include more potential witnesses when all that would have to be done was leave the vehicle in the right neighborhood unlocked with the keys in the ignition?
It would probably end up reduced to parts in short order without having to do anything.
The people who disposed of the vehicle may never of had a clue unless they were the types to follow the news.

I have followed this case with interest for over a year. I know nothing that I haven't learned from the net so I have had nothing to contribute to the conversation. In spite of all that I have read about hired hits and abusive husbands, nothing has altered my initial impression.

I suggest we apply the Occam's razor principle to this situation (the least complex explaination is probably correct). I think we would conclude that the most probable explaination is that they drove of into some body of water and have yet to be found.

I don't know anything about the various "unsavory" connections either of them may have had nor am I familiar with the terrain but I can see the complexities of this "hypothetical murder" and the inherent risks and it just dosen't seem right. I suppose that there are "hit men" who are capable of pulling off this kind of caper but they don't work for jealous ex-husbands trying to save a few hundred a month on child support.

The families and law enforcement need to stop listening to reward and publicity driven rumors and start retracing possible routes they may have taken.

I totally agree with this post, FWIW.

Yeah, which is why I was suggesting looking at that area on Rt 30 after the Ben Franklin Bridge at the Cooper River crossing at Flanders Avenue, near the gas station, or the creek right before Hartford Road on Rt. 38. Also, I-76 E/I-676 interchange after the Walt Whitman bridge also has low bridges over creeks. The big bridges are just too protected to just fall off, but smaller ones at ground level, like over a creek or small river, access isn't always completely blocked. Who would we contact to find out if those particular spots have been searched?

And, just how much did they have to drink at the bar? (Sorry, had to ask... Could have made an accident more possible.)

Maps.live.com has good aerial maps with a "bird's eye" view for an even closer look.
