PA PA - Richard Petrone, 35, & Danielle Imbo, 34, Philadelphia, 19 Feb 2005 - #3

The theories on this case are wide ranging having spoken to people involved in it, from investigators to investigative reporters.

LE's perspective depending on who you ask (2 agencies involved) go 2 different ways, one theory is the most prevalent... that they were abducted, possibly murdered, another is that they may have wound up in a body of water as we are finding more and more of as technology improves.

Now IF that's the case, whether or not it was accidental or intentional remains unknown.

Theories: There is the hit theory, which itself had several different possible motives , from jealousy to silencing Imbo over a suspected prescription drug ring, in which the prime suspect wound up hanging himself in county.

Then there was the accidental drowning or "wrong turn" theory , which is possible as we are seeing more and more vehicles recovered from bodies of water with the decedents still inside. I know LE is interested anytime a car is pulled from a lake or river in the area.

At one point along those same lines there were rumblings of a possible murder suicide theory, and then there was a lesser known theory that they intentionally ran off are still alive and are still in contact with certain family members ...

To my knowledge none of those theories have any foundation

‘Silencing Imbo over suspected prescription drug ring’ —- finally, a motive. What would Danielle have known or seen about this drug ring?

I wonder if they just took off together and was like f it let live life somewhere else just saying because nobody really knows what happened and I don’t think anyone has said this but just maybe they took off together

There were unfounded rumors that her ex husband was possibly involved in a prescription drug ring that plagued Philly for over a decade, without going into specifics, and that she possibly either knew too much or threatened to go to police. Hence why she disappeared, again NONE of this has any foundation.

The suspected "hitman" later hanged himself while in Bucks county prison .

I think that's harder to believe when they both have children they left behind.

Ok just a thought I don’t know if anyone else had that idea or not but

The chance of these bones being theirs is probably a fraction of a percent, IMO: Bones found at Penn Treaty Park in Philadelphia's Fishtown neighborhood
There are a lot of dead bodies in PA, some dating back thousands of years. I know that there is a marked grave of a veteran of the Revolutionary War in someone's back yard in Philadelphia. That is always my caveat about finding remains.

In this case, Fishtown is upstream from South Philadelphia, so if they are Imbo or Petrone's remains, they would have had to have gone in about 2 miles north from where they disappeared, minimum. It would not have been on any likely route.

Here you go, if you have the attention span to read a long article.

If you cannot back up your claim with a link, you need to be very clear that it's your opinion based on your personal experiences.

It was a good article, but the phillymag.com site has malware - a drive by download attempt. Unfortunately it is dangerous. It is a fake McAfee scan.

Thanks for linking the article- it is 10 years old and 10 years later there are still no answers--- I always felt it was the husband- if it is, it is obvious they cannot prove it. Certainly the ex-husband could have hired a hit man: I feel sorry for both families. This case will stick with many of us-- not one shred of evidence- very very unusual.

The story was interesting, but something else occurred to me. Petrone, and even possibly Imbo, could be responsible for the disappearance. Murder, with the culprit disappearing.

The case is on ID now -- on Disappeared-- her ex-husband appears the next morning with the baby saying she told him to bring the baby to her home in the morning- I just have this feeling the ex had involvement in the disappearance--- he shows up with perfect alibi- having taken care of the baby the night before- well you can put a baby to sleep and go out and about-- This case is haunting
Unfortunately Disappeared isn't showing on ID here in Michigan. Yes this case is haunting and the worst part is that it will probably go unsolved-- somebody knows something- if they ever come forward- the case could get solved-- otherwise----

He had an alibi for that night, including several off duty police officers.

He was not personally involved in their disappearance-- But he could have paid someone else to do it.

What would be his motive? He didnt want to be tied down by kids and if she died, he would be solely responsible for his son. Danielle was self sufficient- worked, raised his son and owned the condo she was living in. It’s not like she was living in a big house that he was paying for, along with alimony and child support. I don’t understand why he would want her gone.

From reading the above-referenced article- it is stated the following:
Although her ex husband wanted the divorce, he changed his mind and wanted to get back with her- he asked for another chance half-way thru divorce proceedings. He kept pressing her to get back with him and even called Richard Petrone at his bakery, telling Richard to "stay away from my wife". Their divorce has been described as "rough". The ex husband had Danielle's phone pass code and listened to her voice mail.
We, who follow true crime know that above scenario has given way to ex husbands murdering their ex-wives-- All that acrimony-- is quite the motive.

Most professional hit men don't hide their victims bodies or hide their vehicles.

Also, if Imbo, the soon to be ex, wanted Danielle back, why not have the hit man target just Petrone?
