The autopsy will confirm or deny this. Reddit had a story about this, and described her as nurse. She wasn't; she was a CNA (certified nursing assistant) but even they should know about basic prenatal care and issues! A lot of nurses posted, "I'm insulted that they called her a nurse" and I replied, "I'd be insulted if she was called a nurse if she was one, and I'm NOT a nurse."
Not sure what CNA training is like now, but when I did CNA training back in 2008, we didn’t learn anything about prenatal care/birth/postnatal care. It was almost entirely focused on elder care — bathing, vitals, wound care, etc. It could be possible that she didn’t know how to clamp the cord.

Still doesn’t excuse tossing baby out of the window, of course.

I will never understand these murders. Safe Haven laws work. Someone just has to go to the trouble of finding a fire station. SMH
Drop the baby at an ER. Someone will take care of it. This is simply wanton disregard of human life.

MSM calls everyone a nurse. Even if they are an ortho tech or EKG tech.

It sounds like the baby would have died of blood loss before arriving at the ER.

I'm having trouble getting past that her name is Emily Dickinson. For real?

I was tempted to quote Emily Dickinson but knew that would be in bad taste.

Definitely seems like a crime to me to give birth and then not seek medical attention for a bleeding baby and then throw him or her from a window.

Is it illegal to not get prenatal care and to have an unassisted birth?

Failure to have prenatal care is not illegal. Having an unassisted birth is also not illegal. Obviously, there are probably several crimes here but those two matters are not among them.

"All they have to do is open the door, place their unharmed newborn inside, shut the door and walk away," said Monica Kelsey, the founder of Safe Haven Baby Boxes.

The box is dedicated to the newborn whose life was cut short. He was given the name Zadkiel.

"The biblical meaning of that is the angel of mercy, so we wanted him to be remembered as the angel of mercy for Fulton County and not the street corner baby," Souders said

why isn't it legal to sterilize people like this?
I'd pay for it. It's a much kinder form of birth control to stop it before it happens, over throwing a newborn out a window. Just sayin'.
