ONE post about the river rescue was removed the other day simply because it did not contain a link to information that was stated as fact.

Nobody was chastised, nobody was placed on Time Out, nobody was issued Warning points or placed on a thread ban ... so I have no clue where a poster got that idea from.

No clue of course if this has anything to do with Tom, but I was just searching his name and filtered it by “within the last week” and this was one of the results- hadn’t seen it before. Who knows... but figured I’d post it anyway. Maybe about 10 minutes from where his van was found.

The article says the ME will determine if they’re human.... but it kind of seems like if someone saw and thought to call the police, it doesn’t sound like what you’d think of as animal remains. But again... who knows!

It does say fragments of bones so maybe that’s why they’re uncertain at first look if they’re human or not. I don’t even want to consider what human bone fragments in the street would mean.

Thinking about Tom this holiday weekend. I am sure the first major holiday without him is difficult for his family.

Wondering if he may have gone to Florida to a rehab center. They will fly people to the centers within a day or so of initial contact.

Wherever Tom is, I pray he is safe.

Oh *$%/#?%!!! This is awful. This is turning into a bad week for people missing near rivers. Condolences to his family and girlfriend. He seemed to be such a likeable guy. RIP Thomas.

Oh man so not the outcome I hoped for. I’m so glad he’s been found though and his parents aren’t left wondering forever. Many prayers of comfort for the family.

Oh no. My heart goes out to his family and girlfriend. Their anguish in the video is palpable.

Unfortunately it's an all too common outcome here in Pittsburgh when young men go missing near rivers. His mom or sister says the scan of the body showed no gunshot wounds or stabbing or anything. Although I suspect self-harm, there are still a lot of unanswered questions as to who he was with, if anyone, in the hours before his vehicle was discovered.

The body of a Beechview man missing since late January was found Thursday night in the Ohio River, authorities said.

Thomas Hughes, 25, was found in the river near Monaca, according to Pittsburgh police. The Beaver County Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy and determine a cause and manner of death.
