Circumstances of Disappearance

King was last seen leaving Hoffman Homes, a children's home in Mount Pleasant Township, Pennsylvania on July 8, 1975.

King was having problems at the time and was living at the home as a result. She had run away from the facility twice before, but King returned shortly thereafter both times. She has never been heard from again.

King wrote her family often from her stay in the home. Her letters are described as being those of a normal teenager at the time.
King's family resided in Perry County, Pennsylvania in 1975.

Tracy was last seen leaving Hoffman Homes for Youth, a residential treatment program for children suffering with mental health diagnoses and behavioral issues, near Littlestown, Pennsylvania on July 8, 1975. Tracy was having some personal challenges at the time and was living at the home as a result. She had run away from the facility multiple times before, but usually returned shortly thereafter. She was last seen July 8, 1975.

Some media reports from that time period indicate that a Stephanie Capwell, 16, also left the Hoffman Home the same day as Tracy. They described Miss Capwell as a Hawaiian female, 5 foot 1 inch, weighing 100 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She is no longer listed as missing and it is unknown if her incident is related to Tracy’s disappearance.

Tracy apparently held no animosity towards her family and wrote them often from her stay in the home. Her letters are described as being those of a “normal teenager”. Tracy usually apologized for not writing more frequently. Her family resided in Perry County, Pennsylvania in 1975

A DNA sample was provided to police by her mother, Patricia Houseman, and was entered into the federal database.
