I could see two kids pretending to act out something they'd seen on tv or the internet, something goes terribly wrong, and this happens. How old was the other child? Doesn't look good for the father though, does it?
RIP, poor little guy....![]()

gulp. Wow, I did not think this was that but now... The knockout game. smh...
ETA: Article actually just says the boys have been known to play this game, NOT that this was that. Have to wait for autopsy reports, investigation, etc.
BBM at that age..............would someone have to show them the game? See it on a show? see on internet?
Seems really young to think that up on there own and and not stopped? Known to play the game? WOW! Not hide every rope in the house JMOO
Yes my daughter talked about slenderman, it was quite the fashion. But she didn't know the details. These kinds of game/lore go around in schools and camps. Years ago, it was 6th grade when we would see it in our system. Now, it is young and younger kids. Seven feels young but remember there is less separation between social groups given technology and relating through video games. We have to remember that kids hear things from older sibs, older friends, and kids/peers on the bus. I remember kids at my school (grades 3-6) talking about how they would fight the green man or slender man-- it took hold of the entire lower school--- as it only took one or two younger kids to know about it and share. Parents and schools need to talk about this stuff and the fact that these are games that can kill.
Mr. Hurtt had lived in the house for about a year and a half with his girlfriend, who has lived there her entire life, according to neighbors. Four children two of Mr. Hurtts and two of his girlfriends lived in the home, as well as a relative of Mr. Hurtts and three dogs.
Neighbors had complained about people coming and going from the home at all hours of the night. Police had been called to the home several times, neighbors said, including at least once in the past two weeks.
He recalled that a man on the street recently pulled a gun on Mr. Hurtt during an argument in which Mr. Hurtt was beating on the mans car. Other neighbors told of similar incidents but did not want to be identified.
Court records show Mr. Hurtt is awaiting trial on several offenses, including a felony charge of contraband. He pleaded guilty to several charges, including resisting arrest, stemming from a 2010 incident and was sentenced to probation for one year in July 2011.
