Investigators are waiting for the results of DNA analysis before deciding how to proceed with the case of two human skulls found in a West Earl Township field in June.

Higgins said nothing has been ruled out, including foul play or a potential farm burial plot. The area where the skulls were found between East Newport and Rose Hill roads is mostly farmland.

DNA was extracted and sent to Texas-based Othram for analysis. He said it would likely be a few months before results are available.

Skull found during a search along the Cocalico Creek in the area of 280 Cocalico Creek Road. Search was being conducted due to another skull being found in that area 8 days previously. Case is UP145916.

Skeletal remains were found in a field near the 200 block of Cocalico Creek Road in West Earl Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The discovery was made by a passerby on June 12, but a thorough investigation was delayed due to rain. On Saturday (June 21), police and the Lancaster County coroner conducted a more comprehensive search of the area, closing Cocalico Creek Road from Rose Hill Road to Newport Road for the investigation.
