The AWARE Foundation fb page says that Elizabeth had a bent pinkie finger on her right hand. The Find Elizabeth Palmer twitter acct says it's on the left hand. I'm inclined to think the twitter account is correct but would be nice to know which hand for sure. AFAIK, there's never been mention of Beth Doe having a bent pinkie.

Would it necessarily have to be noticed during an autopsy if she had a bent pinkie finger? Couldn't it have been attributed to rigor mortis or something? Maybe at the point she was found all of her fingers were bent.
I wouldn't rule someone out for that reason under those circumstances. Just my opinion.

Just wanted to say that 2019 has been a year where several high-profile victims have gotten their names back. Marylse Honeychurch and her daughters, Debra Jackson, Peggy Johnson, Bobby Whitt and his mother, and Sandy Morden are just some off of the top of my head. I really hope we can add "Beth Doe" to the list soon.

It is believed that she was probably born in Europe and moved to the United States before reaching her teenage years, as examination of her tooth enamel indicated.[15] An initial anthropological examination indicated she may have originated from Serbia or Croatia.[32][7] Isotope testing was conducted on her hair, teeth, and bones.[33] She had lived in the U.S. for 5 to 10 years, and most likely had resided in Tennessee or a nearby state.[15][34][35][31][20] Examination on the unborn girl indicated that the child had gestated while the victim was in the Southeastern part of the country.[5]

Unidentified Beth Doe and Female Fetus, East Side Borough, Carbon County, PA

DATE FOUND: December 20, 1976

LOCATION: Along the banks of the Lehigh River in East Side Borough, Carbon County.

CIRCUMSTANCES: A teenage boy who was playing in the area found the dismembered remains of a full-term pregnant female. The victim had been sexually assaulted, dismembered, placed in three suitcases with pieces of a blanket, and thrown off of an Interstate 80 bridge. It is believed that the victim was killed and dismembered within days of being discovered.

VICTIM INFORMATION: The victim is a white female, estimated to be 17–21 years of age. The victim was approximately 5’2” tall with medium brown hair and two small circular birthmarks on her face. The victim had a visible fracture on a front tooth.

FORENSIC ANALYSIS: To help establish identification, tooth enamel, bone, and hair samples for this unidentified female and her fetus underwent chemical stable and heavy isotope analysis. The female was most likely born and spent her early childhood in the Western to Central Region of Europe. Her migration to the USA was most likely in close proximity to the period between early childhood to the teenage years, and she likely spent a minimum of 5-10 years in the USA before her death. As for the fetal analysis, the results suggest that the geographic origin of gestation occurred in the Southeastern USA.

Isotope analysis indicating 5-10 years in US would have to be wrong - but hey, it wouldn't be the first time....!

I haven't viewed the postmortem photos that others have who believe Beth Doe more closely resembles other reconstructions. The discussions note her eye color and complexion as lighter than the 2015 images.

I DO see a resemblance between the 2015 reconstruction and Rossella Corrazin. Here for comparison:

Have you submitted Rosella, and/or suggested her as Beth Doe to the contacts in Italy?

I'm not sure how to account for her ending up in the US, but stranger things have absolutely happened.

I've always wondered why Beth Doe's nose and ears were removed. It may have been to hide identity, but I've found some interesting explanations online behind the origin of "cutting off your nose to spite your face."

This author has a list of historical explanations & examples. I found the site randomly. It looks like she writes sci-fi but if we ignore her other content, there could be possible motives. Adultery in Rome was mentioned.

I looked around a bit more, and found a lot of mention of adultery & removing ears and nose in the Bible. (Yikes!)

Ezekiel 23:25 Commentaries: 'I will set My jealousy against you, that they may deal with you in wrath. They will remove your nose and your ears; and your survivors will fall by the sword. They will take your sons and your daughters; and your survivors will be consumed by the fire.

I realize this probably was discussed in earlier threads, but it's all so off & personal to me to mutilate her face in such a way.
