She looks pretty good as a match for Beth.

I didn't find much on Janice. I tried to find anything in Newspapers.com about her disappearance and didn't. I looked for her yearbook on Ancestry but I didn't find one with her in it.

I agree. I tried also, but her name is fairly common so it didn’t make it any easier. I plan to keep trying though!

After looking at the PM photo again, I'm starting to think that NCMEC's 2002 reconstruction and Carl Koppleman's reconstruction might be more accurate. The more recent one NCMEC released in 2015 has more weight added to her face.

So I just search "Beth Doe Autopsy" and something came up that doesn't usually come up. It was a picture of the suitcase with the head next to a rock. I took the picture and zoomed in on the head and made it a little more clear. I think all the drawings of what she may have looked like are wrong. Yes brown curly hair. Her teeth are much bigger and her chin appears to be narrower.

to add looking at the hair in the photo and the shape of the face this woman was a good match. This picture on namus stuck out. The hair looks identical and so does the jawline. She was 38 when she went missing in May of 1976. She appears younger to me. She was also 5'6 which is 2 inches taller than the estimated height. Jane Does and Missing 1970s-1980s her name is Mildred Roche her husband said that she wanted a divorce and left and that she called him around August 1976 and said she was in MA.

I think the reconstructions are going to be wrong in some ways, no matter what, given the injuries Beth received. Even without injuries such as hers, recons aren’t an exact likeness. Also bear in mind, those doing the reconstructions probably had additional photos aside from the one we see of her skull there at the scene. But I see what you mean about the hair and possibly the jawline/teeth.

Same thing with height and weight. I know the estimations are going to be reasonably close, but there’s no way to be 100% accurate given the circumstances here. So a couple of inches one way or the other wouldn’t seem like an instant rule out in my opinion.

Mildred’s circumstances are interesting and seem like they could fit well. Her age is the only thing I’m unsure of. It’s almost double Beth’s estimated range. But we have seen crazier things! I do think Janis should be submitted as well. She hasn’t been in NamUs long, so may not be on anyone’s radar as of yet. She did catch the attention of a couple of us here.

If you were to see the picture I saw this isn't her. Beth's hair had curls. Her face looks slightly different than the drawings but maybe swelling caused that. Her teeth looked like they protruded a little (yet this could be caused by what she went through before being killed).

If you were to see the picture I saw this isn't her. Beth's hair had curls. Her face looks slightly different than the drawings but maybe swelling caused that. Her teeth looked like they protruded a little (yet this could be caused by what she went through before being killed).

To which postmortem photo are you referring in these posts?

Are you talking about the photo of the crime scene where we can sort of see the head and other body parts (albeit in very low resolution) from the tnonline.com article? Is there a close-up postmortem of Beth's head/face (besides the one on Instagram and the pictures from the aforementioned article) that not all of us have seen before?

It's the one from TNonline I zoomed in on the head and cleared it up a little. I have always felt if I could actually see what she semi looked like and not just a drawing I would get a better idea of who she could be. I won't post this online out of respect for her.

Thanks for the reply. That makes a lot of sense. In a way, I kind of wish that we did have a better idea of how Beth Doe may have looked like in life, although her postmortem photos are naturally very graphic. There is certainly a lot of variation between the different reconstructions that we do have.

Oh man I hope thats not her head. Looks like her head after being dead for 8-12 days not 8-12 hours. There’s another up close postmodern photo on instagram. She was a lot prettier than they made her out to be.

Another thing I wanna add is why hasnt the police uploaded a pic of her left hand? We need to work together as a community to determine what numbers were written on it. I am certain it wouldn’t hurt the investigation at this point.
