" Hey guys...first of all let me say that our family is completely overwhelmed by the kindness,
Love, grace , and mercy demonstrated by everyone. I now know what it means to "bear one another's burdens".
Please know that we FEEL your love.... I am grateful beyond measure. I braced for the worst as I new many would try sensationalize the story and turn it into something it's not.
It's tragic and it's sad...however the church community couldn't have been any kinder. Both sides of the family actually spoke w Hope on the phone for 45 minutes yesterday. She has asked me to speak on her behalf and in deep brokenness.. She made me promise to let each of you know that she is sorry for any pain she may have caused and she received great joy in my assuring her of y'all's great love for her. I love each of you dearly and CAN NOT WAIT to see you... One day at a time.." Pastor Ron

BBM. Hmm, so he reports that she says that she can not wait to see them, yet she is in isolation for a year. He has already stated he is divorcing her and I assume she will no longer be a part of this church, so it seems an odd statement to make.

So he said this had been going on for 10 years and yet he carried on the public image of perfection, even preaching about how to have a better marriage when his was supposedly a horror story for the past 10 year? If that is true (and i don't think it is) then should have scaled back his worldwide ministry and started paying attention to his wife.

I have no doubts that he neglected to give her the attention or consideration that a wife (or any spouse needs) needs. Her job was to keep his home nice, raise the kids and make him look good. She was just a prop. He gave more attention to his image than to the reality of his life.

In this: Destiny Magazine article http://www.scribd.com/doc/10046833/Destiny-Summer-08-Online Hope spoke of her parents and upbringing saying : "my parents wanted a stroke of excellence for me.They tried to deposit everything in me that they thought would help me to excell. They took me to dance lessons, voice lessons and modeling school. They pushed me for A’s and they were very hard on me but I thank my parents for everything. When I became a woman and my husband got me I was a broken mass from the bad choices of my life. God and my husband has gotten me where I am today."

and " I had a terrible past but I got a great life now. I got a great future ahead of me because I was not satisfied with living in that terrible past. “Yes my past was bad, I done some bad things, I been a bad girl; it makes me feel horrible and I look at myself in the mirrow and I do not like what I see, so how can GOD love me, so I can’t do anything for GOD."

Sounds like her parents were perfectionists and focused on image too so I don't know how supportive of her they would be in this situation. I don't know what she did that was so "bad". It was probably just typical teenage stuff.

She met Ron when she went to some bible church where he was already enrolled. He was her tour guide when she visited there to check it out. So it doesn't sound like she was every really independent and out on the world on her own. a bible college (for lack of better term for it) is NOT the same experience as a typical college. And Ron, as a preacher's son already probably had his destiny in his mind.

It just sounds like she has lived a life trying to live up to her parents and husband's expectation of portraying the perfect image and not been able to just live a life where she did what made herself happy without fear of how other's felt she should be living.

These are just the random musings of things that I have.

.

No, I think he's saying that he can't wait to see them, not she.

Pastor of mega-church claims wife went away for 1 year intensive treatment, has anyone actually heard from the wife, though?

Pastor is speaking on his wife's behalf, addressing her wrongs (second article linked).

<modsnip>

From the link!

Despite sending her away to an intensive one-year therapy program, Ron Carpenter said that reconciliation with his wife is off the table.

Does this not sound like she had no option?? Sounds like she had no choice!

Ah, ok, I guess that makes more sense.

He just seriously gives me bad vibes.

I call shenanigans on the 'one year therapy program'. It doesn't exist.

And reconciliation is off the table? Another case of the preacher making up the rules as he goes along. (And I am married to one- so no flames please)

Can some one translate this for me?

As Pastor Carpenter told congregants during a church and those examination a Internet livestream, Mrs. Carpenter has willingly checked into a one-year reconstruction hospital where she has been put in siege for evaluation. Admitting during his remarks on Sunday that he did not accurately know what was bum his wife, Pastor Carpenter though common that he had been sensitive by a therapist “that it was a misfortune box they had ever seen.”

I'm guessing someone whose first language is not English 'translated' this? Maybe- it's one confusing mess, for sure.

It sounds like it has already been through an online translator a couple of times...

Actually, no. I have absolutely no idea what is being said. I do agree, however, with comments suggesting it may be an auto-fill text.

In today's message Pastor Ron mentions that he took his 3 kids with him to visit Hope yesterday, out of state. It is the first time the kids have seen her in 3 weeks.

He said that where she is, they check on her every 15 minutes.

That bit of info was mentioned at about 17:00 + in the video. I haven't finished listening to the whole message yet so I don't know yet if there is further mention.

Could be, and I certainly hope not, however something appears to be going on that just isn't making much sense.

MOO

Hi there, panther! Seems like long time no see!

It isn't making sense to me that women of the church who have gone to Hope Carpenter's seminars are not collectively speaking up for Hope and demanding to know the truth. Where is the loyalty these women should feel to Hope?

IIRC, the same thing happened to the wife of the leader of Scientology. She just suddenly disappeared and people got concerned for her. I cannot remember the husbands' name, but he had given some outlandish story as to why she was gone and it was to have been of her own free will. One of her good friends finally got someone in authority to check on her and speak with her. She claimed to be okay. This is too much like what has happened to Hope Carpenter. We cannot know if either of these women are truly okay or what pressures are being brought to bear.

This is so totally ridiculous, IMO. Who is standing with Hope and where are her loyal friends and followers?
