Her mother would have to commit perjury or she would turn into a state's witness. Jodi was not severely abused as she claims, so her mom would have to lie for Jodi.

I can imagine, though, that her mom could say something like "yes, I made bad mistakes in raising Jodi and I beg your forgiveness. Don't take this out on her." Basically throw her own self on the mercy of the court.

In other news, tomorrow is my birthday. I wonder if I will receive the perfect gift of this circus coming to an end.

ETA: I am so sorry - I posted this before I read the news about the tornado. Did not mean to hijack. Praying the damage is limited.

Hey folks! The Sidebar is not jail or purgatory :D So please come over for OT *and* trial discussion...! We don't bite...much.... :dracula:

That is what just baffles me. NO FAMILY MEMBER speaking up for her. None. Not Grandma, mom, sister, brother.....none. I simply do not get it.

It took me a while but I think I get it now. It's all just gimmicks for the appeal process.

I get it, especially for the convicted murderer. What can thwart the process though, is when everyone online and in the general public starts mobbing and digitally thrashing any person who dares step up to speak on behalf of the one convicted.

If someone wants to stand before the court and share their experience of time with the Murderer they should be reasonably free from having their personal lives and details picked apart and posted as they are unrelated to the case at hand.

Why should her personal issues matter if she's only wanting to share some simple statement with the court? For example:

"While the things of recent are rotten and bad in my former friend's case, the convicted person didn't seem like this when we hung out long long ago. You see, during the month of April in 1986, Jodi was my BFF and we played hopscotch and zelda till midnight during a slumber party. She didn't try to stalk and kill anyone during that month. I never thought we would be here today. Thank you."

We all know Jodi exceeds the boundaries of vileness. Thrashing anyone associated with her: family, friends, teachers, coworkers, boyfriends, even her former childhood era friend(s), seems like an example of less than polished form. IMHO. We can respectfully doubt, disagree with and even ignore sources of info without crossing over the line that differentiates acceptable civil activity and hostile abusive behavior.
:truce:

I see your point, however; IMO, when anyone advocates for a convicted murderer in a court of law, their status as a law abiding citizen should be determined by the state. Much the same as when an inmate testifies during a trial...it is known to the jury this person is an inmate.

The jurors have got to be sick of the DT causing all these delays and they know it is the DT. Wouldn't it have been much better to just tell them that witness had to withdraw, put DB up and let JA have her art exhibit?

Sorry- I am way behind- but what happened with putting DB on the stand? Was there an issue with him as well? Tx.

I have just finished watching the "show" from court today.

...waaaaaaaaa...you didn't grant us a mistrial and you didn't let us withdraw...so na na na na na we are not going to be calling any witnesses for the defense..so there!!...

That's what I got out of it....

AAAANNNNDDD...Sorry Nurmi, your lying murdering client got MORE than a fair trial. You and HER got whatever you wanted...especially the testimony of DV and Pedophilia without a SHRED of evidence to support it.

And...as far as "Patty" she has done plenty of interviews...even with Arias' 'arch enemy' Nancy Grace and NOW all of a sudden she's "camera shy"??

And...there are plenty of "celebrity" trials where the "celebrity" had just as much, if not more "attention". OJ anyone??? Did you hear the prosecutor's in that case crying about not getting a fair trial??? Robert Blake anyone? I am sure if your client was found, oh, I don't know, maybe guilty of only manslaughter, you wouldn't be crying about not getting a fair trial??

OK, I could rant more, but I won't. And I sure am glad I ranted without the F word. it wasn't easy!!!!

I am real sick of the Arias/Nurmi/Wilmott show.

I can't think about tiny piece of crap CMja right now. She should be gone already, but she's a big game player.

There's a disaster on my tv that is breaking my heart. I've never been in a tornado. Shocked by all the destruction from these tornados! More coming!

Prayers. :praying: :praying: :praying: :praying:

I like it .. Jodi's friends were all like, yeah, we knew her, but she ain't worth getting in trouble for or standing up in front of the world and saying good things about, especially after seeing the Alexanders speak. We knew her, now we don't .. moving on with our Jodi free lives. And not just Patti, but Daryl too :)

ETA: her twitter has not been updated since the investigation into Donovan's contact with JA was announced. So she has no friends.

You know, I just can’t imagine as a mother, not pleading for my daughter’s life. My DD and I actually had a conversation about this the other day. I told her how shocked I was that Jodi’s mom was not taking the stand to plead for her life. My DD said “you would, even if I had done what Jodi did?”

What I told her was from a mother’s perspective. Yes. I would. I would plead that her life be spared. Simply because she is my daughter. If it were me (as a regular person) talking about somebody else (not my child) I would feel entirely different. But the very fact that this IS my child...yes, I would beg that her life be spared. I would also tell the jury that I was glad that she is receiving punishment for her horrendous crime, but please spare her life.

But there's the question, spare her life for what. What does she have to offer? NOT your daughter, I'm speaking about JA. What could her mother say? Maybe SA just does not what to be questioned by Juan Martinez, if she were to lie.

I am real sick of the Arias/Nurmi/Wilmott show.

I was worried that Wilmott would need to change Nurmi's diaper there at the end! It was a total tantrum and the Judge knew it. She did not seem pleased with his antics. Is it Juan Martinez' fault that YOUR witnesses didn't work out?

Isn't this something the Mitigation lady should have been working on before this late stage in the game?

I signed on to WS to get news on the trial (good morning everyone!), and all I see are posts about the tornado. I know it's a terrible, scary tragedy. I know...but this is a thread about the trial. Please keep everything on topic.

No news back tomorrow at 9:30 Arizona time. No trial today.:seeya:

Dirty dirty defense team.

They are as low as their client.

It happens so fast! It went thru moore, ok before I finished seasoning the meat for dinner...I didn't know it moves so fast and do SO MUCH destruction in such a small amt of time...omg ....Prayers for all family and friends and people in OK...my eyes are filled with tears.

They are doing this to deliberately give her ineffective counsel so she will get a new trial on appeal, right?

This is a show. The DT couldn't find anyone willing to testify for JA. This is a cover up of that fact. Better to claim that the court/prosecutor/public/media is not allowing her supporters to testify than to admit that she has NO supporter willing to chance taking the stand for her. :twocents:

I don't know if this has been posted yet.

Character witness for Jodi Arias pulls out, citing threats and inner turmoil

The potential witness, Patricia Womack, is a childhood friend of Arias who planned to testify about Arias’ abusive childhood. Besides the threats, she said that her heart went out to the family of Travis Alexander, whom Arias was convicted of killing.

“I couldn’t do it,” she told NBC News in an email. “I feel there is so much good in Jodi to be saved but then also someone’s dear life was taken.”
