Wow!! Not a single soul speaking on her behalf. How much did this mitigations specialist cost I wonder???

This is not her decision. It is her Attorneys.. She is only there to help with the factors and witnesses...

This is some kind of last ditch effort. but I think that Nurmi and Wilmott look really bad for it.

so why couldn't the murderer elocute today?

  • #1,023
Can Womack be held in contempt for not appearing? After all, Judge told her that her testimony could be sealed?

  • #1,024
What if your life was being threatened? Would you?
Consider this at least.

I am trying to consider this. Who would threaten anyone speaking for the defense? She's already been found guilty, the only people who would be upset with how this trial is going is JA, her defense team, her family, so why would any one of them care who spoke up for JA?

This is the most ridiculous day I have seen. There was no reason I seen to stop court. If I was on the jury I would be screaming DP I am done with playing

RT @CamilleKimball #JodiArias sister is here today, wearing one of Jodi's "Survivor" T shirts. Her dad is here as well.

----

Can't believe she's wearing one of the t-shirts. Unflipping believable

My guess would be heated words are being exchanged in chambers between defense counsel and Judge Stephens. GUESS. #JodiArias
Yep. Hotter than downtown Phoenix during a power brownout in August. :hot:

OK...so what happened to the "modified statement". She didn't say a damn thing.

I think it's referred to the defense's opening statement at the penalty phrase since Nurmi mentioned Patti and Darryl will testify on behalf of Jodi but now they won't.

And so Jodi gets more of her drama.

I thought she wanted to go quietly into the death chamber.

I think that Judge Stephens now has to review a LOT of case law and talk with some other Judges about the current issue. That, and the tempers flying, made it impossible to proceed today.

What happened to the ex-bf that was going to say something on behalf of JA?

and the psychopath rears her ugly head again.

JA is the poster child for ASPD/psychopath: (from psychcentral)

Individuals with Antisocial Personality Disorder frequently lack empathy and tend to be callous, cynical, and contemptuous of the feelings, rights, and sufferings of others. They may have an inflated and arrogant self-appraisal (e.g., feel that ordinary work is beneath them or lack a realistic concern about their current problems or their future) and may be excessively opinionated, self-assured, or cocky. They may display a glib, superficial charm and can be quite voluble and verbally facile (e.g., using technical terms or jargon that might impress someone who is unfamiliar with the topic). Lack of empathy, inflated self-appraisal, and superficial charm are features that have been commonly included in traditional conceptions of psychopathy and may be particularly distinguishing of Antisocial Personality Disorder in prison or forensic settings where criminal, delinquent, or aggressive acts are likely to be nonspecific. These individuals may also be irresponsible and exploitative in their sexual relationships

Even right down to using those big words. I can't even imagine what she is thinking right now with that inflated ego of hers.

This takes the cake. When is this going to end for the Alexander family??? How much more can they take...it's no wonder it's taken five years to get to this point with a defendant like CMJA and the two immature lawyers she has. They should be ashamed of themselves. Blaming Mr. Martinez because JA ultimately has no friends.

Jodi's just turning like a worm on a hook...

Could someone please explain to me what just happened?

Did Nurmi ask for both a mistrial, and, to be removed from representing Arias?

Why are both of Arias' "mitigation" witnesses not testifying?

Are they suggesting that Patty Womack (sp?) cannot testify because she is not sober?

What about DB (the man Arias lived with - along with DB's son) - why isn't he testifying?

What was the reason for Nurmi's requests to the court today? IMO, Nurmi sounded very angry - I have never heard Nurmi sound this angry.

Has Arias done something else to upset Nurmi - Arias' post guilty verdict interview would have to upset Nurmi, IMO (and more than likely JM too).

Why isn't Arias speaking today?

What was the defense's motivation today? The defense must have had a reason to address the court today - what was the defense trying to accomplish?

Again, why isn't Arias speaking today? Soon it will be five years since Travis Alexander was murdered by Arias. This trial has gone on for 4 months - soon it will be 5. Why wouldn't Judge Stephens tell the defense that they have to move forward today? It sounded as though Judge Stephens was well aware of what Nurmi was going to say - as Judge Stephens noted that the defense had requested to be heard in open court.

With all of my questions I think that it is clear that I do not understand what happened today - I would greatly appreciate anyone that could explain it to me.

I don't know how she does it, but I really feel like she continues to manipulate and that somehow, someway, it will end up in her favor, no matter what happens. She is too pleased.

She billed AZ $100 per hour for 100 hours.

  • #1,038
If Nurmi keeps this temper tantrum going what happens, does the judge just say 'OK then no mitigation ..' and just sends it to a vote? Otherwise this could go on forever.

  • #1,039
Why would JSS allow them to say Patti wasn't available to testify when that's clearly not the truth??
